Megan Racing Springs

Hey What Springs Are Better

The Megan

Or The Sprint Springs..

I Know The Sprint Springs Are Like @ 60 Dollars More Expensive Than The Megan
And They Both Have A 2" Drop

Give Me Some Pointers If Its Better To Buy The Sprints Or The Megan...

TIEN TIEN TIEN

Teins are great im on stock shocks its not bad a lil bit more stiff than stock i have a pic of mine on stock tires in the suspension area if you wanna look.

I bought a pair of megan springs but never put them on, joshp5 shed some light for me and explained to a science how my stock struts would blow after 3 months running the megan springs without atleast tokico illuminas, use the search, i started a similar thread awhile back and it turned out pretty informative

yep the drop of the megan springs combined with their relatively stiff spring rate will do that. so im gonna be looking at an expense in a few months here. but oh well. when they blow, they blow.

i got the megans on mine too. the only thing i would trade my current set up for is a complete awr coilover set. spring rates are 280 fr and 230 rear. roughly 2.5-3X stiffer than stock. yeah, its not a full 2 inch drop but i love them. with such high spring rates, i choose to run the illuminas too. the hp's may have worked, but the msp struts wouldnt have cut it.

i also got these because of the increased spring rates. sure lowering the car improves handling, but with dropping the car, and increasing the spring rates quite a bit will do more for handling than sprint or even eibach springs.

so yeah, if you plan on getting the megans, spring for the illuminas. i got mine on ebay for 440 shipped. i dont remember who the seller was but its a great deal

OK, I'm looking for stiffer springs because I'm feeling a bit overdamped with my current setup. I guess it's not recommended to run HP's with these springs. Hmm.

susamafone, how does your suspension behave over bumps. My struts are clearly overpowering my current springs (Tanabe NF) and it looks funny :D

Yes, I still like them, my wife doesn't. (alright) Too stiff of a ride fo her and the kids...(stooges)

No, I haven't run them with anything else...

ill be trying to sell mine here in a couple of months when I get home, im gunna go with the eibachs

So my stock struts wouldn't last if I put these on there?

You would not be happy, even if they do last for a little while. You'll just end up doing the work twice over.

My stock struts really sucked even when I had mild springs on.

any lowering spring will wear the stock struts out faster, so your eventually going to have to replace them. plus its just a good idea to have a strut with better dampening force matched up to a spring with a higher spring rate. if you dont, you will not get the full benefit of having lowering springs, since most have a higher spring rate.

if cost is an issue, check out ebay. i picked up 4 brand new illuminas for 440 shipped. i would not suggest trying to save money by putting new springs on stock struts. gonna pay for it eventually, and saving a few hours of your time is worth it.
