Unichip for MS6

Has anyone else seen that it is now available? It seems like it has some good gains too. Price definately seems good compared to the other units (only $700 for a plug and play unit).

only problem is no end user tuneability. you have to take it to a unichip tuner who also needs to have an AWD. kind of sucks if you ask me.

yeah that's what i absolutely hate about the unichip, same reason why i don't have it in the msp, you have to bring it somewhere to have it tuned. kind of ridiculous. but good luck to the people that buy it, i'd like to see some reviews. i think an ems shootout is almost in order jeez. i like the cpe unit personally though.

i have Q, i really know nothing about the PnP, what are the gains in terms of HP / TQ? and is it laterally a plug in unit that needs no other modification to the car to be able to use it?

thanks guys!

It just means you dont have to hack into your factory ECU wiring to install it.
You still need a tune. (all of them provide some basic maps for common mods / stock)

thankx, but what about power? I hear people talking about "gains" are there and dyno # of how much HP or torque its producing?

SU's site has more detailed product information on the UniChip, but I can't link you there since this is censored... They were quite instrumental in its progress from what I understand so it's a great thing for the community that they helped get another solution to the market.

I may be in the minority here but my last car was an Audi TT 225 and I bought a MTM ECU for the stock car. I loved it. It shifted the dyno curve left with mild to moderate increases in HP and Torque. Looks like exactlly what this product is supposed to do. I don't want to tune the car myself. I do not want to add any other aftermarket parts. Just want to have the set up changed by a professional and hopefully be reasonably safe. I look forward to hearing more.

The UniChip apparently takes away all ability for the end-user to change ANYTHING about the tune on their own without going to a UniChip-capable shop.... that's a major down-side.

not if the peopledon't want to take the risk of putting a bad tune on their car, and I didn't mention that the gains were at the wheels either

on another forum, i found out the tune can be replaced per any new mods. but of course, no matter what supplied map is given, it will only be a base tune though... oh well, i have pnp cpe sitting at my house right now anyway haha.

you lost me on that comment

lol sorry for the whargarbl, there's a thread on another forum about the unichip ems. i found out on there that although you get a pre-loaded map ready to go, if you acquire new mods you can send it back and have a new map loaded into it for the new mods. but these essentially can be described as a 'base tune' which is basically conservative so that you don't blow your sh*t up lol! it's a good alternative to keep getting it fine tuned at a dyno, money wise i'd say.

install should be easy, it's just pnp connectors. it's the tuner you gotta find in your area that could be a problem. but don't forget those are only bhp numbers, and i'd like to see the afr and timing.
