mazdaspeed cai

I don't blame you guys, I do the same too. I just love the sound of the MS CAI and BPV combo. Can't wait to get my Forge BPV tomorrow. Will try it on my MS6 and if it's better, it stays and CX-7 will get the TurboXS.

BTW, not to go off topic... Which spring did you guys use? I've read in various threads that the blue works the best (same as the CX-7). Thanks for the input...

Here's what mine looks right now...

I used the yellow with one spacer, which seems to do just fine. I might try adding a spacer, but according to Forge's recommended settings, the yellow spring is for 15-23 lbs of boost, which is perfect for ours.

Thanks, turnersteve... I might have to try that first and see.

Glad I could help. I owe some thanks to chiefmg as well, he was helping me with this last week when I installed mine.

After putting mine in, my buddy with a GTI has a Forge 007 BPV, and he was only running the green spring. I told him to try the yellow as he runs 15-17psi on average, and his car definitely pulls much harder to redline.

Thanks, again... Let me know if there's a difference with 2 spacers.

Just installed the CAI by CPE Xcel and HKS SSQV BOV. And all I have to say is wow. The feel of the inc. in power and sound mostly. Like air being drawn through a big straw. Kind of throaty.

I helped you, you helped him, he'll help someone, and on it goes. That is what makes car forums enjoyable to me, sharing info to help other enthusiasts. I don't post often and won't give out information I am not already familiar with so I don't mislead anyone (or worse, put forth incorrect info).

Totally agree. I've already learned have done on what I've read on this and other forums. The only drawback is... it's getting darn expensive, 'cause you just want to keep adding and adding great stuffs. (2thumbs)

and what forge bpv model is everyone using? im very interested in this now lol ohh the great world of modding.
i had the turbo xs on it durin the summer, but it kept throwin a cel so i ended up takin it off.

That's correct. I like it because it does look stock, and you can clock the top to align the hose tap perfectly. Several of the fine vendors on this forum can hook you up.

I ordered the Forge BPV full factory. BTW, which TurboXS did you have? I have the Full-Recirc with 4 washers and have been happy with it.

I'm running the full recirc model. I've heard from other threads that anything with full VTA works best if tuned. The other reason is that it still retains more of a sleeper style, which is what I was going for. Down the road, I can always sell it and get a hybrid or something like that if I want.

My wife seems interested in a new BPV, but she doesn't like the Froge due to the "Zing" as it vents, or as so she calls it. I might have to look into something that is louder, but doesn't putter at low boost like the SSQL BPV does.

Any ideas?

BTW, I run Blue spring, no shims in my Forge and have no surge issues.

alright everyone, i know i said i couldnt put on the mazdaspeed intake on till saturday, but i just couldnt wait anymore after half a day of it sittin in my trunk lol
after work i went to my buddys house, and then i realized we should put it on.
we started around 12 am, and finished around 1:15. all in all, it wasnt too bad.
he barely has any tools at his house, so it took a bit longer than it would have had we had the proper tools.
i couldnt take any pics cause it was all last minute, but it came with instructions and although theyre not the best, they work fine.
and as everyone said, the hardest part was removing the stock air diversion piece or whatever it was, simply cause the angle of the nuts.
once all the stock pieces are out, installation is a piece of cake.
and bout the sound and performance? all i can say is wow.
i didnt drive it too hard yet so i dunno bout the turbo spoolin any faster or pullin any harder, but the sound is amazing.
worth every penny and all the labor.
im runnin everythin stock minus the cai, and the recirc valve sounds awesome with it.
im very pleased! if anyone has any questions, id be glad to help!

The sound is indeed worth it! I was thinking exhaust until I got the intake. Now, I want the exhaust even quieter! I don't want any drone or exhaust noise to muck up the beautiful harmony of suction->spool->boost.

I probably should buy a big turbo diesel truck. (hippy)

i realize im bringin this back from the dead a lil bit, but for the guys that said they had the turbo xs bpv, what models did u have?

I've got a TurboXS hybrid with a MS CAI, 4 springs in, and it sounds lovely.
the CAI is much louder than just the BOV, and the sound that it puts out isn't a zing, it's more of a pscht. No flutter either, which may sound nice, but it adds up to compressor surge, which isn't a good thing.
