I finally did it too!!

What are those, bunny slope skis? I roll on, ahem ski on 175-185s. Back in the day I could hold my own on 205s but that was when my parents were paying and I got to the slopes more.

Eh, I guess the new shaped skis are shorter huh.

Length of your ski has nothing to do with ability... maybe he likes moguls so he goes with a shorter ski

Chris6 is correct. The new shaped skiis don't have as much to do with length as the old ones did. I have had skiis from 180 to 210's. Used to have 180's when I was doing moguls alot some 30 years ago. ahem.

The new shaped skiis are just as stable carving at high speeds as the longer ones. Don't do moguls much anymore, the old knees can't take a beating anymore. Been skiing for 43 years, taught skiing for 15. Just taking it easy now.

I didn't know you were a ski instructor....I should really hook you up with my Dad. He was up at Sunday River all week. They got 18" over the last three days and he had a blast. He goes every year starting on Super Bowl Sunday.

And Dan...yes I am tall. I have skied on the shaped skis and I agree. They are the high-tech 4 bangers whereas the long skis are like the lo-tech v8s LOL. However, I find the shaped skis tend to chatter if you're going straight. You've got to keep them on edge if you want to cruise. Not a problem if you like skiing the steep and the deep. I'm due for a new set and I will probably end up with something shorter.

Agreed, but going straight is pretty rare, you should always be on some kind of turn, short or long radius. Try them out Chris, many places at the hills have tryout or rental programs for some very nice skiis. I bought demos 2 years ago that they were renting, top of the line Atomics, at the end of Feb. They were 1000 skis new, picked them up for 350 canadian before the dollar got strong.

Well, back from skiing. Had a great time with my brother. Skiing was pretty good. The drive back Sunday night was something else. Ice, snow, whiteouts, accidents, watched a car in front of me spin out on 93 and hit the guard rail.

Here are some pics of the trunk rack with the skiis. Worked very well, no issues, nothing came loose.
