2nd map clamp is a go!

Simple install. I just took an cont. tester and found all the wired needed at the ecu. Took only three wires just like truboost said. Pinouts are. 2ag white/green is for signal. 2au black/green wire goes to 5v. and 2av brown/green is for ground. I used the ptp map clamp and it had a test wire so it made it real easy to find out what the voltage was clamped at. Just turn the key to the on position and turn the set screw until the desired voltage is obtained. I clamped mine at 3.5volts and it worked great. I then turned the boost up to 18-19psi and went for a spin. Mods at this point are fugita intake, testpipe, 2 silencers removed and bc. Made a pass through all the gears and the air fuel ratios hovered around 10.8ish. Thats even going through the cat. This is the same setup I ran 108mph traps on and dynod 311whp with. So at my altitude its safe to say these mods are great and no problems with going lean. Ill be going to the dyno later this week hopefully. If anyone has any questions just ask.

Great!
So does this mean no AFC for you?

TruBoost clamped his at 4.0 iirc.

The only question I still have is, how does this chande the voltege down if you don't cut any wires?

Oh you cut wires. The white and green wire is split in two and then goes to two of the wires on map clamp.

I have seen the pictures on the srt4 forums. Although it looks the same, if you get a chance take some pictures for me and the others interested in installing the mod.

Any plans on heading to the track soon? I assume a 12.1 or 12.2 pass on slicks with your mods.

Time for the STI and Evo owners to watch their back. :D

Im guessing low 12s once I put the rest of the mods back on. Im gonna go dyno test them all hopefully this week.

Driver, is the map clamp on PTP website, cant find it? Also, any chance of a quick pic of the install on the map clamp? No ATP BCD then ?? Thanks and great work! -Mike

Just call and talk to John, or go ahead and order it. He hasnt updated his site in a few weeks. He probably has them. John is a badass. Im gonna talk to him about hooking you guys up with a great deal.

Ps. Did anyone even notice Im boosting 19psi and my afrs are super rich??? Granted thats with only minimal mods but man, I ran mid 12s with these mods. This is a great setup for most people and i very fast. ALSO VERY CHEAP. I have only a few hundred dollars into this setup. I have much bigger plans but for the majority of the peeps this setup rocks. I pulled a c5 vette hard with these mods.

works better than the bcd because its not a boost leak. Just clamps the map voltage to trick the ecu into seeing less boost.

for some reason i cant post a new thread, but i foudn out somethign VERY scrary last night.

ok so i went for a lil pull last night. 18 psi, boom fuel cut/boost cut i dotn even know which one. i was data logging the whole run and my a/f ratios were mid to high 12 the whole way. WTF i didnt change my tune at all, i put on my 2nd map which is all zeroed out and the af ratios were 12ish at 15psi

i tuned when it was 40 out,11.5-11.8 the whole way. last night was 24-5 degrees out. This car is REAL picky when it comes to cold weather, its beyond belief stupid. just letting every1 know, that if you got tuned when it was a lil warmer out, dont even attempt to push your car in the cold.

This is probably the reason most of these engine are blowing. i dont know why this car runs so lean when it gets cold out but it does

Air density changes significantly with temperature.
Temp density
70 .0745
60 .0759
50 .0774
40 .079
30 .0806

The difference btw 70 and 30 is 8.2%. If you tuned at 70 to 12:1 you'd be at 12.98:1 at 30.

Your 40 deg tune shouldn't be as far off as what you found if it was only 15 deg cooler but you should keep air density in mind as the seasons change.

welcome to the world of piggyback my brotha. you will constantly be changing your map depending on the weather. I dont care what anyone tells you. I found this out on my srt and my evo. Piggybacks need constant attention.

Ps. My car does that same s*** as soon as i put my tmic back on. Something about the car, I dont know which sensor it is.

so how safe is it then to run a MBC with a map clamp/BCD year round? Perhaps just turn boost down a lil when winter hits? Hate to blow my s*** up ...
