I installed a Prosport electronic boost gauge today. It works great but there is an odd interaction with the automatic headlights. What I'm seeing is that if I operate the headlights fully manual, everything works great. The gauge is white when the lights are off and then go to amber when the headlights are on. The same thing happens if I am in the sun and have the headlights on full auto. The light is white. If I cover the sensor for the headlights, the lights come on and the gauge goes to amber. All good...
Here is the problem..
When it's dark and the lights come on as soon as the ignition fires, the gauge stays white. It does not ever go to amber. Here is some additional information:
- When it's in this state, turning the lights off and then back on manually leaves it white.
- It keeps doing this even if I shut off the headlights and the car and then restart the car.
- If I shutoff the headlights and the car and wait approx. 10 seconds, everything goes back to "normal".
So there seems to be some kind of odd sequence on this and some type of memory on the "power" to the parking lights.
I have this wired at the interior fuse panel using "Add a Fuse" as follows:
Red Power - Ignition
White - ACC (lighter)
Orange - left parking lights
Also note that I've seen all kinds of wacky crap with the automatic headlights on the car anyway. For example, if I start driving when it's dark and then it gets light, they almost never seem to go off, etc.
As a side note, this gauge is awesome and the folks at Prosport really got this to me fast...
Thanks!
