Just like the title says, is the 08 the last of the MS3 or will it go into 09?? Also will they only make so many more or as an on order bases from the dealer till the end of the year.

That's good then. In 20 years, it will be a collector's item and will be desired. Keep all the stock stuff you take off and it will be worth even more!

Now we can't be without a Mazdaspeed model for 2009 so Mazda if you're listening...bring on the next Gen MSMX-5!

Actually, the most likely next MAZDASPEED vehicle will be the RX-8.....

That might be the case if the RX-8 weren't a rotary...but Mazda isn't willing to put that much money to up the power especially into the last year run for a slow selling RX-8. Plus there was already a Japanese mazdaspeed RX8 version with just some areo and suspension add-ons.

It's easy for Mazda to throw in the 2.3 turbo in any of their cars because it's arleady used in most of the Mazda's lineup and it's cheap to build and maintain. Which is why it would make sense to throw it in the MX-5 to compete directly with the Saturn/Solstice Turbos. As much as we would all love to see an MSRX-8 it's not in the cards right now for mazda...they're focused on a new rotary for a brand new design for the 2009 model...

how is that not likely? the fewer that are produced the more any of an individual product will be worth.
Same thing was said about the MSP...Trust me..Its still just a semi cheap vehicle with a decent turbo..It will not Appreciate by any means..nor will it be sought after as a collectors item.
Its just a Turbo pocket rocket..It has a time and a place...Both are now.

It'll be worth something in 2020 when we're back down to 96 horsepower cars eekin' to get 35mpg. Come to think of it I should put it in storage now!

But they already had a MAZDASPEED Miata.....

Great thinking man. When you take it out to sell it in 2020, let me know. I would love to pick up a nice MS3 for real cheap.

Unless you are buying an exotic it isn't going to appreciate. Even then its not likely.

Yea, but did the MS Protege get all the press like the MS3? Car and Driver #1 in at least 3 articles, Consumer Reports #1 pick in Sporty Cars, etc...

Yes this is true, but that was the previous generation Miata. Mazda will come out with a new next gen mazdaspeed mx-5 because the miata sells well and towards the end of its production life mazda infuses certain models (low cost in mind) with more power and an overall more enticing package to keep interest peaked and cars leaving the lots.

They also already had a front drive turbo speed model (MSP) and you could argue that the MS3 is the next gen MSP.

Ok, someone start a voting thread on "What will be MAZDASPEED's next car?"

1. i dont think our cars are going to be worth more.. or be considered collectible or anything of that nature.. might keep its value pretty well but thats as far as i think that will go.
2. the next Mazdaspeed car is probably going to be the Miata.

Trey Cobb told me at SEMA that they are planning on putting the MZR into the the next Miata/MX-5. I don't know if it will be a mazdaspeed or not.
