08's Are On The Forecourts

One of the local dealers here in Vancouver called Mrs Sparkybhoy this evening to let her know that they have taken delivery of their 1st 2008 MZ5.

Funnily enough it is a GT with black leather and Auto - exactly the one that she wants.

I might go for a look tomorrow.

First Impressions

nice, get pics of the interior.

Sorry Raspykart, but I forgot to take a camera, and the camera on my Palm is atrociously poor. Besides the car was covered in white plastic and the interior covered in polythene (exactly like Blue Swedes in the other thread - right down to the plastic in the curve on the door handles) so I don't know how much you would have seen.

I'm heading back tomorrow to talk turkey with the sales guys (oh joys (chair))

First impressions:

I do like the black leather interior, and am glad that we waited on it. It has a perforated finish, similar to my buddies 6, and looks great. The slot on the centre console below the gearstick will hold, at best, a garage door opener or a man's thin wallet. The console between the two front seat consists of the two heated seat switches, then the handbrake and 2 cup holders, then an open storage bin that might hold CD's. The rear A/C vents are there, although I didn't pay too much attention to them.

The dash is nice, and the display lights up white (I think that the 07's are green?), although the central display with the fan speed/temp/etc is still green. The steering wheel is a half leather and half 'grippy' rubber material. The interior trim is a darker grey than before, and is appealing.

The one thing that I don't like is the new tail-lights. Weird looking things, and I much prefer the '3 tube' style of the 07's.

The new wheels look great. They have grown on me since I saw the spyshots.

The auto closing doors are a nice feature (the GS that we test drove in August didn't have this) and should save the slamming that normal sliders get!

I took it for a short drive around the block, as I didn't have much time. Obviously I didn't get the chance to take the new 5spd box up to highway speeds or to really get a 'feel' for it, but it maneuvered well enough and parking was a breeze.

Hopefully they don't sell it to someone between today and tomorrow that is willing to pay the list price!

Auto closing doors -- really? I didn't realize that the 2008s would have this feature.
