626 Mani Worth It Or Not Worth It????

The install for this manifold isnt hard. I would say maybe a 3 or 4 out of 10. just watch were your vacuum lines were originally and where they would be going on the single cast manifold. But that is the only tricky part. Also, if you get the manifold for Ken, it would be in your best interest to get the EGR pipe as well, make your life easier with it.

I went from 186/179 in febuary (COLD) to 213/208 in august (100*F and very humid) with 626 mani and thermal spacers (IM and TB)

I am sure this has been discussed before, but i am on the verge of buying one of these manis also so...

Is the power mostly coming from it being single runner? or from it having no VTCS system?

I guess the real question is "is just taking the VTCS out of your current MSP manifold as effective as having a 626 manifold? or is changing to single runner going to give you that extra HP?"

not sure if anybody actually did a dyno vs the two, I have both manifolds, 626 is on the car and I had already prepped a spare stocker but never installed. But apparently you get gains from both, just not sure of the difference. If you are interested I'll sell you the VTCSless and gasket matched stocker and you can give it a whirl, maybe even do a comparasion dyno for the boards.

flow testing shows that a 626 manifold flows at least 40 CFM more than a stock manifold even with the butterflies open.

My question is that , if my car is mpi tuned for 12 psi, if i add this manifold on, would i need to be re tuned my car with the higher flow of air? Major concern before i install one, thank you.

well, yes....any time you modify something on the engine you must tune to get the most out of it.
remember, this manifold shifts the powerband

1) How much low end are we losing here? Like honestly, i like the peppyness of the MSP, but i also want to hit 220WHP, so this may help me

2) I worry that on a stock block with my mods (BEGI FMIC, Injen Intake, Corksport S pipe, Vibrant Jpipe back (1 high flow cat), SS AFC v2 (soon to be v2 with timing retard), and the Thundermani), that i'll endup blowing my stock block, so this would probably push me over the edge or!?

3) Ken if we get 4-5 People can we get a group buy going?! i would be up for getting this as a GB in about 3-4 weeks.

i'd rather not do a group buy on intake manifolds honestly. i would not be able to reduce the price all that much for new parts.

Ok Ive been hearing good and bad things about the 626 mani and I wanna hear from everyone that has one on there car or people that did and didnt like on this. Im on the edge of buying the 626 mani next payday, but I hear its not worht it, then I hear it is????

I already have a forged motor, custom fmic, cai, custom stage 1 clutch, 2.5 exhaust system, afc unit installed but not tuned. Car runs great but will the 626 mani make my car pick up a lot better?? Will it really give me the numbers that it claims??

Or is it a hassle?? Will it not live up to what they say about it on portegegarage. Not trying to put them on blast but I rather not spend $300 and then regret it later.....Thanks(ugh)

Worth it. buy it.

the manifold we sell is a newer model 626 manifold without VTCS and VICS. you can avoid getting a CEL if you leave the solenoids wired in

i have an mp3...no vtcs stock...but will soon switch to a msp ecu...can i just wire up the vtcs solenoid to avoid the cel?

As long as you have the solenoid actually wired up right it will not throw a cel. Doesnt matter where you shove it after that but you definetly don't need it hooked up to the engine.

When i removed mine I actually took the wires out of the loom and then rewired it inside the car up under the dash so I wouldn't have to have some ugly bracket zip tied to my engine.

Has anyone ever tried completely removing the egr and tried it with and without? I would like to know if there is actually any performance gain or is it just for emissions and efficiency. I remember someone saying something about it preventing detonation....... but that doesnt really answer anything about performance.

Worth it. buy it.

Trust me Im trying to buy it but I got so many things going on. Im buying the perrin exhuast and installing it this weekend. Im also trying to rack some money to make a MAM mani...so hopefully the begining of next year if I start the mam project first.
