Blue light???

In my CX7 there is a blue light coing from a slit lokated near maplight. it comes on when i turn on my headlights. does any body knows whats its funcion???(attn)(attn)

Just a cool blue light to iluminate the center console at night.

Yeah its called Ambient Lighting, and only on the GT trim sadly.

I've found it to be useful only on country roads with no street lights.

Anyone know if it is possible to purchase the "ambient lighting" and install it yourself???

I like a lot of the little features of the GT trim, but I had to go with the T trim because I found that croc-strip down the middle of the GT leather seats that tacky. So I'm slowly trying to install the little GT features (chrome handles, ambient lighting, etc.) on my T model. In retrospect, I should have gone the other route and just bought the GT and swapped out the seats, but I'm an idiot.

i have the T too.. i really wanna make the parts like a gt, and i think i'm gonna try for the ambient lighting like you, lol.. as for my seats, i'm gettin them 'leathered' like the GT seats.. only a lot more 'customized'...

can you really chrome your handles on your T? please reply!

Well all that the lighting really is, is an LED that comes from where the map lights are, so if you want to mount one in and tap into some light somewhere that only comes on with the lights there shouldn't be any problems

You could get the door handle Covers, which would be cheaper and still give the same look.

I dont know how long they last, I Park my car away from the sun and I have underground parking so, They might not peel, but for 25 dollars or so, What have you got to lose?

My plan is to find the GT chrome handles at a salvage yard or ebay. Might be a while. Apparently not enough people are totalling their CX-7's yet, because I haven't seen many spare parts anywhere, haha.

It's the flux capacitor.

the chrome handles from ebay have been on my wifes Cx-7 for almost a year. They'd look like s*** on mine cause I have the blue and you can see the color on the back side. She has the silver so you can't even tell they're cover till you get up on them. Not a good idea on any of the bright colors (tryed them on my but never stuck them on cause it looked like crap so I gave them to the wife)

I heard of a dealership in AZ telling there customers that it was a form UV protection for the interior. Funny s*** man. Just a light, that simple.

I love catching salesman in those things.

I once had a salesman tell me that a V6 Ford Contour and an SVT Ford Contour put out the same power simply because they both had a 2.5 liter engine.

Next to the blue light is a cap which looks identical. It looks like just a cap or even possibly a speaker? Can I put another blue light there? Or what goes there from the factory?

If you have the Nav system, I believe that's the mic for the voice command. But i'm not 100% sure on that.
