well, I figure with the stock sideskirts, the jackpoints will still be the lowest part of the car, so it wont make me bottom out anymore than I do.

i believe you have to go under teh side skirts to get to the jack pt iirc.... not by much but you do

does anyone know if the hatch and sedan share sideskirts?
I'd sell you mine! They're Rally White, but alas... I'm using them. (lol)
Don't know for sure but what if you looked at sites that offer aftermarket body kits and molding? You may find your answer there. Or, call your dealer's parts department. They would probably be happy to answer that question. They could look both up by part number pretty quickly... unless they're a bunch of jerks.

Damn, I really wish someone knew offhand. I have no idea where to find my parts department number cuz I bought this car nowhere near my house so it wont be in the phone book. I dont even know of any companies that make kits for both 4 and 5 door. anybody wanna call their parts people and ask for me? (boom07)

Hey Phil, Virgin is overdue for service and I'll need to get there soon. I can ask for you when I'm there? Who knows? Could be tomorrow.
I'm still waiting for the pics of the new AutoVation pedals, guys!! I want them!!

awesome, thanks. now for the real question.....who wants to let theirs go REALLY cheap??
I did some research online and also called my dealers parts department... at great personal expense I might add. (It's long distance. 10 miles away. Can you believe that?)
OK, according to my parts people they will probably not interchange w/o "at least some" modification, if they would at all. I made sure he knew what I was asking and he looked up the part numbers for the left side of a 4dr. S and a 5dr and came up with two distinctly different part numbers. Then he looked up the R.S. for both vehicles and came up with the same thing.
In talking with him, he stated that the two have so many differences that they are almost two completely different cars!! I was a bit surprised by this statement, though I knew he was talking mostly about the bodywork.
Before calling them, I went on the Mazda N.A. site and looked up Accessories. Under "exterior" they have the lower door molding set, the mate to the side sill extensions, and they too were different part numbers for the 4 and 5dr models.
I then checked out the MazdaSpeed accessories as they have a deeper side sill "add-on" extension. It was ONLY available for the 5dr.
'Sorry Buddy, but I think you're OOL with an interchange on this one. (protest)
'Sorry for being the bringer of bad news. I know it's not what you wanted to hear.

actually, that is exactly what I wanted to hear! I dont want to end up with some skirts from a 5door and be SOL with them. Thanks. I find it interesting that one dealer says one thing where another dealer says the exact opposite. Thanks for your help.

Now that that has been established, any other 4door owners looking to rid themselves of their stock sideskirts?
