Worst Dealer experience ever at Guiffre Mazda in NYC, long rant......

Just had to vent about what an awful experience I had at Guiffre Mazda in Brooklyn. From new, the car had a windshield gasket that was not seated properly and it finally bothered me enough to take it in and have it fixed. I did not purchase the car at this dealer because of their terrible customer relations at the new car dealer. It seems service is right up there too.

I was going to go 50 miles, each way, out of the way to go to the purchase dealer to have it taken care of but someone suggested I try it locally. The original dealer, OD if you will, told me that the windshield needed to be removed in order to fix the gasket. The OD had no issues taking care of this, they just needed an appointment so that a 3rd party glass specialist could be there to do the work. This was a hassle of course so I decided to see what the local dealer would do for me. The manager came out and reassured me he could do the fix, no issue. "No problem buddy!" Feeling good about it now, I made the appt.

I brought the car in and was assured it would be taken care of and that it would be ready the next day. They called me in the morning to tell me to come get it, I confirmed again the windshield was taken out and they said yes, and a new trim was put in, awesome! When I came to pick it up, I saw the invoices and was satisfied the work was done as required. I went outside to wait for the car and was talking to my ride when the service guys pulled it out, beeped the horn and went back inside. I find the windshield trim now covered in one corner by blue tape and no evidence of the glass being removed, plus no one to ask about it. I found other things later which consisted of: an oil stained floor mat and dead pedal, antenna taken off laying on the passenger floor, radio cranked up on another station, AC set to 60 and full blast fan and they changed the plate frames front and back to cheesy chrome ones with their dealerships name on it! I nearly blew my own gasket since they spent more time NOT fixing the car and messing with my stuff than doing what they should have.

They swore up and down they changed the windshield gasket even though it was still dirty and the car itself had NO signs of any work having been done. The antenna from the remote starter which was mounted in that corner still had my fingerprints on the double stick tape. In fact, the car was dirtier than when I dropped it off. Then they had the gall to say they took the job as a favor to me when they had never seen me before in their lives and were out $160 for the repair which they did out of good faith. They seemed to think it was not a warranty item despite it being a factory defect and afaik the windshield falls between the bumpers of the bumper to bumper warranty. So I got them to change the plate frames back to black ones rather than the ugly chrome ones and get the car into their detail shop for a wash and carpet shampoo.

Now more fun, within 20 minutes, they lock the keys in the ignition. They say they wont use a slim jim to pop the door so they decide to cut a new key. 45 minutes goes by waiting for the key. Finally the parts guy comes out to see if the blank they have will fit. Its not even cut yet!!!! Another 30 minutes and its cut, they open the door and finish the detail. But wait one last insult, they give me the key and tell me its a spare door key now, it wont start the car. I ask about the chip, they say it doesn't have one so its just a door key. Of course when I get home, I get another key and manage to program this one, it DOES have a chip but the bastards wouldn't program it or even tell me how to do it myself after the whole mess.

The repair is holding up so far but time will tell. For me, it's fine if they were able to get the gasket in the right place, but dont lie to me about it and dont mess with my car. Needless to say, I will be calling corporate to make sure if this repair fails its covered and to tell them about my "experience". What do you guys think? What would you do? Oh and thanks for listening :)
