What 's the top speed?

Momma always said "quiet is as quiet does". I think it all depends upon what you are used to driving. Go from a Saturn into the 5 and the 5 comes across as an incredibly quiet ride. Go from an Audi into the 5 and I am sure it will seem to have a ton of road noise, wind noise etc.... Overall I have had five different people in the 5 and they have all commented on how quiet and smooth the 5 was.

Something else to consider are the type of tires on your 5. I did not live with the standard Toyos for very long and currently have a set of Michelin Pilot A/S's. I'm sure the Michelins are much quieter than the standard Toyos.

Anyone qualifying the Mazda 5 for being quiet has listen to too many high volume MP3's and has lost quite a bit of hearing capabilities.

Mazda5 Top Speed

I am a speed demon. The 5 is a bit underpowered at low RPM's but I drive 90+ daily. I lost acceleration at about a needle over 130MPH, it didnt have any more at that point. At 130MPH stuff comes at you fast, a common bug can chip the paper thin paint at 85+, watch out. My advice, get a nice radar jammer and enjoy

I actually love the Michelins. They're great in all sorts of weather and damned durable. Potholes don't seem to phase them or the alloys.

They're expensive, but inspire a lot of confidence.

I was driving with a friend yesterday, and I am known for my lead foot. But she actually said, "I can't believe this car can even go that fast." I was only going 90 mph - granted I was on the highway in the middle of town, so that may have been a little excessive, I backed off to 80 for her

No, but now that you mention it a Slurpee sure does sound good. Those straws are really long I'm sure sharing would be fine .

yesterday i had a relaxing ride with 192 km/h (119 mls/h) on the clock which is a real 185 Km/h (115 mls/h) on the GPS (thumb). i had the feeling that it could go a few mls/h faster than that but too much traffic on the A9 from munic to frankfurt (drive2)

Banged against the rev limiter/fuel cutoff in top gear (5 speed) on a closed section of the local freeway a few nights ago.

The speedo indicated 120mph/195km when the nanny intervened.

I thought i'd blown it up.

So how come z rated rubber is fitted if the 5 is artificially limited to 120mph?

I guess it is an NHTSA, IIHS or whatever regulator "feature". And for the tire ratings, I wouldn't take those Toyos above 85MPH , I think just Mazda got a good deal to make them OEM, nothing else...
