Went to the track again...

3.5 Titanium MSP
...in Englishtown last night. I got in three runs. They were, in order, 15.229, 15.173, 14.875 @ 91.99. I had lowered my boost by a quarter turn or so (Joe P MBC) because I was afraid it was a tiny bit over 10 and I saw a difference in my top speed as last week at the track I was hitting 93 MPH. Regardless, 14.875 is a personal best for me. I got a great start (2.301) compared to my other runs. It felt like it pulled really hard in 2nd gear. I guess this had something to do with the drop in temperature (76 degrees on my first run to 67 on my 3rd). I still stuck to stock tire pressure and it seemed to work best if I dropped the clutch around 2500-2700. My friend's 2000 540i automatic only ran a 14.84.

There was also another Titanium MSP there. He had a SRI, boosting 10 and a custom exhaust with one cat he said. I think he was running mid 15s or something but I forget.

For those of you interested in going to Englishtown on a Wed. night and have never been, here is my advice... Get there at 5:00 (races start at 6). Get in 3 runs as fast as possible and then stay the **** out of the racing lanes. GO HOME!!! Last night my 2nd and 3rd runs were separated by 2.5 hours!!! Although I'm happy with my 3rd run I can't believe I had to wait that long. Anyway here is my best time slip of the night:

R/T 0.727
60' 2.301
330' 6.273
1/8 9.583
MPH 74.23
1000 12.434
1/4 14.875
MPH 91.99

nice runs. I am also from NJ and pivking up my new speed on monday. I will be oing to the track after the car is modded up the way I want it. Where did you get your MBC and did you install a turbo gauge with it? Maybe we can meet up so I can get a hand with the MBC as a turbo car is new to me.
Thanx
Ryan

Get rubber block spring inserts for your REAR (Only) Springs...drop your tire pressure to about 20-25psi in the front, 45+ in the rear.

You could find .2 on your 60ft time...which could equal .5 in your 1/4 mile time :)

Nicely done!

I installed the autometer ultralite manual boost gauge and steering column pod from www.protege5online.com

I am very happy with the gauge. The pod serves it's purpose but it's kind of cheap feeling and looking. I'd be happy to give you a hand with the installs.

goonsquad how much are you boosting?

10 PSI

Where do I get these inserts? I think I will try this next time as my first 3 trips to the track were all with stock pressure levels.

I found mine at a local autoparts store - they are for trucks, to keep the springs from compressing when towing. They work the same on Cars - when you launch, the back end squats, and you lose traction up front. These help prevent that. IIRC, they were about $5 a pair. get 4 pair, so you can put 4 blocks in each rear spring.

eeek that other titanium drive must suck....... he's boosting 10psi with aftermarket exhaust and getting mid 15's? ouch
