hey guys, wondering what size will fit on stock tires and still clear the stock suspension? i lowered my car about 1.5 inch in the front but my 215/40/17 still clears no problem.
Don't bother with the 205/50 unless your roads are so bad that you can't stand the super bumpy ride...just get 215/45 which will fit fine, and get you that little bit of extra traction and wheel protection.
MSP's come with 215/45 and they have a very similar suspension set up. I almost went with this size when I got new tires, but I only bought 2 so stayed with the 205/45.
It would be 9mm difference overall in the diameter. The first number is the width of the tire in mm. The second number is the height of the sidewall based on a percentage of the width. And obviously the last number would be your rim diameter. So you take 205 x .45 (because it's a % it's .XX). That gives you the height of your sidewall 92.25. Then 215 x .45 = 96.75. Leaving a difference of 4.5mm. Since the tire is round, we need to account for 2 sidewalls between the ground and the car for clearance. 4.5mm x 2 = 9mm diffrerence in total height.
