Tinting Place in Jersey???

Just wondering if somebody could help me out here. I wanna tint my P5's windows, and I see that there are a decent amount of places in Jersey to do so. I am in Central Jersey, and if anybody around me has gotten their windows tinted, could you let me know where, and how satisfied you were. I am also a novice to the percentage's involved in tinting. I assume that 25% mean there is 75% visibility, but I could be wrong. Anyway, if anybody could help me out, that would be great. Thank you.

Call Autosound in Kendall Park or the Tint Shop on Rt 1 in Edison -- A/S has the Tint Shop come to their place to do the cars anyway ...

You can legally do any percentage on the windows behind the driver and the front windows, and the windshield (including a strip on top) is illegal. However, on my car I have 20% on the rears, 50% on the driver/pass doors, and 5% on the moonroof and the stip on the windshield.

The % is the ammt of light that can pass thru so my 5% on the moonroof only allows 5% of light to pass thru -- this is the darkest you can get.

Great info, thanks! I think I'll head over to Tint Shop sometime soon. Do you know how much it will cost?

Also, is the tint you described the same as in the pics of your P5? It looks pretty good from what I can tell (2thumbs).

Rt 1 and Kendal Park are awsome for me. I commute to Rider University everyday, so they are right on my way. Pic's would be awsome, because I would like to get some idea of what diffrent percents look like. I also think that they come down pretty hard on people in Jersey with their front windows tinted to much. Do you know how dark the windows can be? Thanks for the info.

The rear windshield and the rear windows can be as dark as you want. The front windows and windshield can have NOTHING.

I did 35% all around

no trouble from cops yet, but yeah, it's against the law.

My friend does my inspection for me - so no worries there.

auto image and security on rt. 18 nice work and lifetime warranty.15%all around and top of windshield

Cost will probably be between 2-300 depending on how many windows you do.

If you click the link in my sig you will see the tint I described on my P5 --- 20% rears with 50% driver/pass doors.

Yes NJ laws suck but what can you do. I have had a little trouble for my tint -- but they usually pull me for something else (something more serious) and end up giving me a ticket for tint instead -- a damn good deal if you ask me.

As for AutoImage --- my friend used them for his Golf and when they were doing the strip on the front windshield they yanked on his rear view mirror and shattered his windshield.

Did they pay for the repairs? If so, then I don't see anything wrong...people make mistakes all of the time, but if they are willing to pay for it, then I see no reason to avoid going to them.

If they refused to pay for damages they caused, then by all means boycott the place.

Thanks guys, and I'm sure we're helpin out other Jersey Pro guys aswell. Damn prospeed, your tint is dark, but it looks freakin awsome on your Pro. Thanks for all the suggestions, and I'll probably call each place up, and get some prices. I'll post them when I do.

Yes they finally did pay to have it replaced but they originally were not going to. The owner of the car had alot of problems with getting them to replace the glass. They didnt even call him to tell him the problem. He went to pick the car up and flipped. He then had to leave the car there longer for the shop to have someone come out to replace it. Its just bad work ethic to not tell a customer that they damaged a car that badly -- and then didnt want to take care of the problem in the first place. Hell, any installer should know not to try to yank the rear view mirror off!

I'm in central Jersey and I drive around with 5% tint on all the windows except the windshield. I've had it for about a year and have only gotten one ticket (gotta love Seaside cops).

yeah, they're brutal

Well .... yes its a non-point ticket but it depends on what statute number the a$$ decides to write down. I have had tint tickets in for like $45 however my bf once had a cop give him a tint ticket with a MANDATORY court date and he was given a fine of $130+ in total. Luckily that was a 1 time thing.

Common problem with VWs. That is why most tint shops will not mess with a strip on the windshield of VWs. Some shops won't do windshield strips at all. Too much hassle.
