Well, it finally happened on Monday.... I took my truck out to get some gas, and my transmission decided to give up and die. It ripped the planetary gear into many pieces. Evidently a fairly stock 700R4 Chevy transmission can't hold up to 450+ ft.lbs of torque for very long. At any rate, it was rebuilt over Tuesday and Wednesday to Corvette Specs (Same tranny back then, heavier clutch packs, stronger input spline assembly ect..) with a 2800RPM stall converter, Drilled out Valve plate (Sort of like a really heavy duty shift kit) and a new Perm-a-cool Cooler. Since I've finally got the transmission where I can handle it, I am getting new jetting for my N20 where I can run around a ~250 shot. Since my transmission should techinically be able to hold around 600ft/lbs now, it's time to see if all the motor's internals are as good as they are supposed to be. I also ordered a new Eaton Limited slip unit for the rear-end yesterday that should be installed this weekend, as I am switching from a 3.73LSD to a 3.42LSD... Traction is getting to be quite hard to find.
Anyways, I have been up to my neck in car s*** this week, and figured I would share...
