Suspension problem???

Hey guys,

I have noticed more and more lately that when I drive very aggressively (autocrossing etc..) that the steering wheel does not come back to center.

If I turn sharp on direction, the steering wheel will be cock-eyed off center when I return to driving straight down the road. I have to jerk it the wheel to the opposite direction to straighten it out.

I don't know what is causing it. I think it maybe the suspension bushings ???? Any ideas???

Thanks

that doesn't sound good or safe. could the steering colum be stripped or something? I would definitely go to the stealership.

Your car is just most likely out of alignment. What kind of modification do you have done to it?

check tire pressure and tread wear, uneven wear and/or can cause the car to be biased one way or the other. this is the first thing I would check before going in for an alignment since that's mulahh for the stealership. no noise coming out of the steering too right? how about wheel feedback? any vibrations?

One of your camber bolts has come loose that makes sense. It is just sloping around in the upper hole. It will cause your steering to be varible and will take away your positive feedback. It will also cause your steering to shift from side to side. Please inspect them and don't autocross until you tighten and get some lock washers on them if not yet installed. I had these on my last car before I got my coilovers. Everytime I hit a pot hole I would jar one loose. These bolts are not very reliable. If I were you I would put the old bolts in. Get a set of ground control camber plates and get it realigned.

Thanks for the info,
I had a feeling it was the camber bolts but have not checked them yet. I will check them tonight. The alignment is true and straight it is just the steering wheel that does not come back to center position.
