Springs and struts..

So I've tried to do some research on this and I'm not 100% sure if I'm correct or not but lowering springs make your stock struts wear out faster is this true?

I want to drop my car but didn't know if it was something that needed to be done along with putting in newer struts or just wait until they go bad to replace them..
