snow tires?

Get them thin and get new wheels. Find the smallest size that will fit and get something good. I've heard the MP5 wheels fit, get those and stick some narrow blizzaks on there.

If you don't care soo much about the wheels, you can pick up some 15" steelies. TireRack has them (or had them last winter) for about $32/rim. Then pick up some 15" snow/winter tires. It'll be much cheaper to get 15" snow tires than 17" Lo-Profile winter tires, plus you have a second set of rims and don't have to worry about mounting and unmounting each season.

15" rims are the smallest that will fit over our front brakes (and it's a tight fit at that)

Good luck.

Semperit 205/55/16's on 16" P5 wheels. under $70 for each tire from Tires.com, shipped.

Note that the 205/55/16's are a better match for the MSP than the 205/50/16's a P5 would use. I actually ordered the 205/50's and Discount Tire ( www.tires.com) emailed me back to double check - telling me the 205/55's would be a better fit. After some discussion and checking the specs I agree fully - and THEN they told me that the 55's were significantly cheaper to boot! Great company.

You can get P5 or ES wheels/tires for ~400 (check classifieds/marketplace section), sell off the tires, and have nice alloys for Winter.

I had Semperit snows on our old VW Cabrio - they were great tires, easily the equal of a decent all-season in the dry and outstanding in the snow. I haven't used these in snow yet (just had 'em mounted last weekend, and it's 90+ degrees out) but will report.

Buy a winter beater for $ 1000 bucks....and store your baby.....if you are good with cars getting a decent beater is your best bet.

uhh, this car is my beater. I went ahead and bought the Dunlop Graspic DS1 from tire rack $97 per

Those are awesome tires. I had them last winter, and even in some of the worst snow storms, I could still make it up the canyon to the resorts :D
I'd get them again in a second.
