shifter burnt hand

I was just wondering how many other people have gotten a very minor burn from the shifter in the msp? I just got one today while leaving school. Did not wanna use the a/c just ride with my windows down, but damn that shifter was hot and I have to shift alot when driving home.

I have had it burn me too. I just grab on to the side instead of the top! It is the only time that I ever grab on to the side of the shifter really. I think using a shade or something would really help!

yea, that damn shifter must be about 160 plus Deg. when you touch it. I just switch it to the stock shifter i was given :) it is rubber but the heat disapates quickly..

Today, was the first time it burnt me, so now I think I will change it to the rubber one and throw the mazdaspeed one in my bookbag and then when i leave put that one back on.

I bring mine into work with me every day that it is sunny outside. A couple of times I have made it all the way out to the car, went to start it and....****....forgot my shift knob!!!!

Tint the windows and buy a sunshade for the front. Stays nice and cool inside and helps protect the interior.

Owie!

Yep, same thing here.

A sunshade helps a lot. Also, I keep one of my husband's dress socks in the car in case I think the sun will come around the side of the car. Kinda like a little shifter-condum. Helps a lot.

The employee parking lot where I used to work was in full sun, so I used to have to do this with another car (pillow case over steering wheel, sock on shifter).

Sorry if it ain't sexy, but this DOES work! Feel free to suggest something a little classier...

:D Tink

If I'm wearing a hat that thing goes right over the knob. My aftermarket knob is metal in my 5.

Get one of those golf club covers, like the tiger one :D

And if it's that hot, get a sun deflector for your windshield - your steering wheel is getting beat!

not a half bad idea about the golf club covers. I always keep my clubs in the trunk and if it is too hot, I guess I can grab one and throw it over the shifter.

i keep my stock leather knob in the glove compartments for times like that.

my voodoo knob can get really really hot... and really really cold for that matter ;)
