hey, my friend has a house literally 3 minutes from the entrance of the rubicon trial...I've only seen the entrance to, never been up there haha,

and as for those roads all over Europe, god, it is my dream vacation, one day, to go to Europe, in a Porsche GT3 RS, and drive all of those roads...The day I have completed these, I will literally have lived a fulfilled life...

If you have the money you can in fact rent one of those, but I really mean if you do have the money. You got to remember that gas cost almost $8/gallon in most parts of Europe now and you might consider driving a more fuel efficient car and make that trip earlier in life. (Like this summer)

If I get a little more free time, I will update the first post to add a World section, Continental US section, and offroading section--feel free to leave me your suggestions around the globe! If you can get there on wheels, we will add it to the list!

I would be honored if this is made a sticky...just sayin'...

One of the members here posted this link in the IL section a while back, and while all the roads are not this epic it make a good reference.

motorcycle roads

This listing is geared toward motorcycle cruises, but those guys frequently know where the best cruise routes are anyway.

Glendora Mountain Road aka GMR (incomplete :( )
PCH (completed)
Ortega Highway (comleted)
Live Oak Canyon (drive it a couple times a week =D )

lol, if anyone in socal wants to do GMR with me one weekend let me know ;)

IIRC, the speed limit through Hawk's Nest was 55 mph, but that sign in the pic is a warning sign suggesting to do 25 mph. I can't completely remember during my research if I am correct or not... So you could do 60-65 without fear of getting a ticket!

If you want a nice, scenic drive that's fairly close to you, come to the Shenandoah Mountains in Virginia and cruise along Skyline Drive/211.

that looks like a pretty nice drive. those trees are beautiful

Skyline Drive is beautiful. I live an hour away and go several times a year to get away from the city. I'm looking to get a convertible soon, and I can't wait for top-down cruising in the mountains.

maybe, just maybe, I'll be able to do this one next weekend on my way to the chesapeake bay. however, it will be in the cx-7 with a cargo box on top--but the 11 hour drive to the bay may be too much in itself for my parents and girlfriend....

Wow, nearly a year to the date! Sorry to revive an old thread, but one year later and I am now a college graduate. To celebrate, I am taking my first road trip. Along the way, I have knocked off another two roads on which I had hoped to travel before I died--Skyline Drive and Blue Ridge Parkway in Virginia! Here is a quick picture of a scenic overlook along Blue Ridge Parkway:

Original post has been updated--if you have any suggestions for roads (in the USA) that I should journey to drive, let me know and I will research them and add them to my list! Thanks!
