I've been running 205/50/16 on a 16x7 +35 for several years. I still need to roll the fenders a little bit if I want anything in the back. But, it's worked for me.

I have used both of the wheel/tire calculators posted on this site and it seems like I can use a 17x7 +40 offset rim with 205/50/17 tires on a stock 01 protege ES sedan, A local mechanic @ a tire store that I have been dealing with for years said that i was pretty much maxed at 215/40/17...is this true? I don't want to purchase 50 series tires and find out i have to do some alterations to the vehicle.

This thread appears to be kinda dead, but I'll try asking my question anyway. First please forgive my lack of knowledge on the subject, I've been trying to research and I think I may have found the answer but I'm looking for a little more clarification.

I want to but some new wheels on my 02 P5 using stock suspension, stock tire size (195/50-16) and even stock wheel size(16x7), just want to change the look a little and the only wheels I can find that I like are of a different offset. Am I correct in saying that the 02 P5 has a stock offset of 50mm?

I REALLY like a set of Motegis but their offset is 40 and I'm afraid they'll rub.

I found another set of Kazeras with an offset of 45. Would they rub at all?

Honestly this 02 P5 is my daily driver and I want as little trouble as possible, I really don't want to have to do any fender rolling. Does anybody have any advice or experience with a situation like mine?

So, I'm super retarded when it comes to wheels, here's my question:

Looking at 17x7 40mm offset for my 2002 protege LX. Stock right height. Any problems? I plan to lower it maybe 1"-1.5" in the future as well, will that cause any issues?

you'll fit, until the suspension starts moving. i wouldn't call it a functional set up.

i was going to order some rims that are 17x8 +35 with a 205/40/17 tire...i also have the msp sedan, will they fit without rubbing with a fender roll?

Yes.

So far, everything on this page would work except the 215/50-17 and the 235 mentioned.

tbh, not sure why some of you guys are asking about Tire Rack recommended fitments, they're very conservative and are pretty much guaranteed to work.

Hey guys, I plan in the near future change my Work Emotion wheels for some Advan RS wheels. I need to research if they do custom PCD but the idea is to run 17x8.5 +31. I still want to use my 235 tires but will go down to 40 instead of 45. I don't mind doing exta fender rolling but I want to make sure the wheels won't poke and if I will be able to fit them of course... What you guys think?

2002 protege 5 with tokico blues and eibach pro kit springs. Unsure of rim offset but rims are 18x7 with 205 40 18`s. Struts and springs aren't installed yet but was wondering if I would have any issues with rubbing once the struts and springs were installed. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

you will need fender rolling with that wheel-tire combo, but shouldn't be too bad.

not without some fender work. 215/35-18 will fit without work.

Please forgive my newbieness in the art of wheel fitting. If all goes well this will be my first aftermarket wheel purchase. I've looked around the forum to try and find the answers to my questions but I kinda feel like a need some confirmation before I spend the $1000+ bucks.

So I'm looking at the Enkei M52s in Hyper Black for my Black 2002 P5. The Enkeis are a 17x7.5 with a 50+ mm offset. LINK According to Rishie's Fitment recipe the wheel should be good with both a 215/40/17 or 205/40/17. But Tirerack is recommending a 205/45R/17 for this wheel. Does anybody have any experience with these sizes? Would anyone be able to describe the differences between the sizes and why I might want to go one way or another?

Though I'm obviously putting on new wheels to look good. The most important part of this is drive-ability and a lack of fuss. I don't want to worry about rubbing or fender rolling. This is my daily driver. I have a miata for the crazy stuff.
