rev limiter 1991 protege dirt track car

Hi. I race on a dirt track, and I was wondering where the rev limiter was on a 1991 mazda protege, and how/if I can bypass it or remove it or adjust it. This is not a street racer, so what I am doing is legal, I would just like the input. thanks.

I'm mainly trying to see if it's defective. my car isn't running right anymore, and that's what it sounds like. it happens at full throttle, and I'm just making sure it isn't the rev limiter.

humor the newb, what does ECU stand for exactly?

thanks. does anyone have any tips on how to make sure that the rev limiter isn't the problem, or how to bypass it, or remove it, or anything? I have no clue what a rev limiter looks like, I don't know if it's a fuse or a plug in or if it's even electrical. I assume it is.

I race full throttle. never had any problems. then suddenly, after a slight hit in the wall, whenever I get full throttle, the engine sputters on the highend, like there's a fuel cut off or something. I checked the pump, filters, injectors, everything. it's not a fuel problem, but maybe a sensor problem, or rev limiter. that's what I've come to halfway think is wrong with it, and also, we got a lot of input from other 4 cyl racers in the area, we just don't know how to check and make sure that's what it is.

I don't see how the impact of a hit can disable the rev-limiter. What about at a stand still in park can you peg the rpm's?

at stand still in park, it idles ok, but when I stand on the gas, and once it reaches top rpm's, it does the same thing, kind of like a skip rather than sputtering. probably because more gas is needed while driving than reving it up. I'm at a loss, and this is all I can think of.

could the fact that I have the exhaust cut off at the manifold have something to do with it? I'm getting a couple of those comments too.

What about 02 sensor damage, then again idle would be screwed up. Maf sensor housing damage on intake. Did your hit to the wall do any damage to the engine bay?

thank you for helping me out. I'll try that exhaust deal first. I'll let yall know what happens. the hit didn't do anything but mess up my fender a little, actually. I can't see any damage to anything in the engine bay. again, I appreciate it guys.
