I am not quite ready to buy a PS2 and since my PS1 is about to die from WAY too many hors (EDIT - hours :) ) of Gran Turismo 1 & 2, I have been looking for something that will be fun to play on my PC. I know that nothing will come close, just something fun and entertaining. Any suggestions for a doep car game for the PC? I already have the standards, NFS2 HP2, Nissan Simulator, but that's it! Is there a car game for the PC that is close!?

Rallisport Challenge or Midtown Madness 2. Avoid Motor City Online at all costs.

Yes, aviod Motor City Online like the plauge. If you looking just for fun check out Carmageddon, it's a little old but it's still fun as hell.

find a used ps2, i'm sure you can find one for a decent price. :)

actually, i'm selling mine (less than 5 play hours) with all games and accessories, just pm me for more details

wholly crap, this is my 111th post lol :D

yeah...as far as car games go for the PC...right now the best is probably nfs2...but since you already have it...ehh...just get a ps2 it'll be worth it...the only other good car game that i can think of that is good (good balance of graphics, realism, and fun factor) is F1 2002...but it's tough...really tough

No replacement for GT at all. Sorry.

Really, just get a PS2 and GT3. It already sounds like you are a die-hard GT fan, and GT3 is exellent! I have GT1, GT2, GT3, and all thier demos.

GT4 is supposed to come out next summer/fall, and GTConcept seems to only be a Europe/Japan thing...it was supposed to come to the US but there's no sign now that it will.

you want colin mcrea 2 or 3 (when it comes out). i have CMR2 for my playstation, and unless you play for hours on end, you will hard pressed to beat it on the intermedeate level. (let alone the expert level.) great game, makes the rally mode in GT2 look pathetic.

what? buy it off ebay?

Sorry pr5owner, that won't work.

You see, European and Japanese games will not play on US PS2s. Europe and Japan have different color settings, power settings, and formats. To play one on your PS2, you have to buy a mod chip, take your PS2 apart, and solder some wires in and stuff. This not only has the risk of screwing up your PS2, it makes it so that Sony won't fix it at all, or at the least it will cost a ton to get it serviced by Sony. Now most of you are saying "well my warrenty is out so what's to lose?", and you are totally wrong. My warrenty was out like a year ago, and this August my PS2 stopped playing anything except DVD formatted games(GTA3 and GT3 still worked, they are DVD), so I call up Sony, explain my problem and what I did to try to fix it, and they had me send it in and they waved the service cost. Not only did they replace the laser unit, they replaced the tray which I didn't even know was broken. Both totally free, all I paid was $12 for the shipping to them, they paid the shipping back. $12 and it's brand new, even came back with a 30 day warrenty. Now, Sony informed me that if the little "void went torn" stickers on the PS2 were torn or tampered with, they would charge upwards of $119 to fix it.

It's a risk I don't want to take, and I don't suggest anyone trying.

i was worried.......

first thing, for a moment i was going to come on here and say there is NO replacement for GT3, but you redeemed yourself!

(currently i am tunning an RX-7 to go against my friends R33GT, he thinks Nissan is better i hope to prove him wrong!)

second thing, dont mess with MazKid, he is a genius.

third thing, two of my friends have had their PS2's clunk out on them, mainly because the first 500,000 of them we faulty and sony knew that, because sony sux. but sony sucking is a different issue. my one friend tim got his serviced at the behest of $50, and my other friend's just stopped working. what you could do is get your old PS2 box (if you still have it) and trade it in for another WORKING PS2. since you dont have a recipt they will only exchange it.

(i knew someone who did this with a dreamcast!) i wont mention any names but i am sure he WILL read this. well he bought his dreamcast and later on in the year for some odd reason it stopped working. fortuneatly enough his parents bought his brother one for christmas. well, he decided to put his own dreamcast in his brothers box and took it back to return it, with the reciept! they didnt bother to check the serial numbers so they exchanged it for a brand new one! so two for the price of one! SCAM! i laughed my butt off on that one! Circuit City rules! :D

forgot to mention

anybody forget about NFS3 hot pursuit? there is also a website that you can download the batmobile! sweet car!
Midtown madness is great! i spent hours on jumping the meridian on lake shore drive! (and for those who dont know chicago its the highway in the game!)
sidenote, did Poliphony release gt2 on PC? i thought they did.....
