READ THIS!!! Just owned a GN(Grand National)!!!

Hey all,i was just on my home from dinner with a DSM friend of mine and we were talkin bout how in my old Del Sol everyone wanted to race but now i cant even pick a race(fight) !And then guess whats in front of us at a red light in the left lane,none other than a GN with a couple of kids driving it!!ha!I pulled up in the right lane and rolled my window down when they proceeded to start talking s***!(they didnt know i was a turbo too!)They gave me the smart ass wave like they were going to walk me and told me to get a bigger motor!(its about to get good)I then proceeded to rev up my motor to let them know i have boost too,and then i got the b**** please look!(still gonna get better)so we sat there waiting on the light to go green.It did ,i got the jump and he backed off(you think thats it huh?)so i slowed to about 15-20 MPH when he pulled up next to me and asked if i was ready?(i was ready when the light turned green!)So i waited,waited ,waited and then he punched it and said go,he got abouta ten foot jump on me and then i proceeded to own him!(owned) 1st gear=pullin,2cd gear=still pullin,3rd gear@75=hes done put a fork in him!(upyours) guess he shouldnt talk s*** if he doesnt know what hes up against

By the way ,i do know he should have beaten me to death (before you guys even start in about how fast nationals are,my dad does have one and i drive it often,so i do know nationals)but i guess this just shows driver does make a huge difference!!!(owned) (loser)

it's funny how many people don't know about the msp, the other night a white p5 with 2 guys 2 girls, pulls up beside me. He had it lowered with exhaust and whatever else and they begin talking crap about how I was a huge rice boy because my car was orange and crap, I was like whatever dick. I let him win the first race and we pulled up to the next light and he was laughing his ass off, Then I was like watch this, light turned green and I let him floor it and get like a car length ahead of me then I punched it and you could hear the turbo purr, his face was priceless when I blew past him. What a loser

the drivers. thats whats wrong with them. otherwise it shouldn't/wouldn't be happening. there's no way your going to convince me that the 4.6 V8 that pulls a 6sec 0-60 and a high13 low 14sec 1/4 mile is going to get beaten by our cars. right off the line with the torque the stangs produce in GT form of course should be sufficient enough to hold us off. you put the same driver in either car and your going to get the same results.

nice job but just don't go getting in over your head. wait, didn't the GN's and Turbo Regals only come as auto's?

Yes......the Buick Grand National's (GN or GN-X) were automatics, and they were 'very' quick. It was a V6 with a Turbo. This guy must have been running on 1/2 of his cylinders. One of those cars would destroy the MAZDASPEED in a straight line fight. They did have a fuel cut-off however, at 125mph.

Of course; at turn one, while he is busy trying to keep from running off the road, the MAZDASPEED would glide right through.

The GN is a SC 6. Properly tuned with a real driver behind the wheel, it should blow away the MSP as you said.

However, they are getting old and unless they were taken care of (and most of them weren't) their presence will fade. I got stuck behind one at a drive up one day. It was sweet, for a second, until i noticed it was spitting out tons of burning oil smoke at idle. But try anything but going in a straight line with those cars and the fun is all over. They corner like crown vic.

What's funny is how you guys think you know about cars but you have no idea what a Grand National is capable of. Consider yourself lucky because the MSP gaainst a Grand National is like a Yugo against a ZO6. And the MSP isn't the ZO6. The MSP is a great car, but come on, you are making it out to be more than it is. The MSP is a 15 second 1/4 mile car. And to anyone who knows cars, THATS NOT FAST. The MSP is built for a road course just like the MP3. The MSP will get owned by most cars in a straight line race any day of the week. Especially against a Grand National. The funniest part of this thread is how you think your car is faster than his.(rofl) Did you even know that the year the Grand National went to market, that it was faster than the same years Corvette in the 1/4 mile? I guess you didn't know that. And here's a news flash for you, the MSP will NEVER beat ANY corvette in straight line.

Finally, someone who ownes a MSP and realizes that there are other cars that are faster than it is. The torque of a V8 will blow the MSP out of the water any day of the week. Hell, a big ass Lincoln with a V8 will dust the MSP off the line. And the grandpa driving it will be laughing at you while you are watching his tail lights get farther and farther away.

Well; the "Type T" was the same drivetrain as the GN, just different colors were offered.

Funny yall should mention the GN's. I saw one get smoked off the line by none other than a Eclipse GTS (latest body style). I was like :wtf: It was the driver. He really sucked! I thought our boi up there did say that the GN should have taken him out? It was a bad case of "THE DRIVER SUX!!!" (laugh)

doesn't matter. there were turbo regals as well. kinda like firebird's and camero's.

i think the turbo 6's were very similar to the engine and set used in the Sy's and Ty's a couple years ago. minus the awd systems

Hmm, I was always told it was supercharged, never looked it up though. My bad.

Anyway 245hp vs 170hp? Still no contest in a straight line.
