READ THIS!!! Just owned a GN(Grand National)!!!

Just looked it up:

Production: Grand Nationals: 20,193 GNX: 547
Engines: Grand National: 3.8L V6 Turbo 245 bhp @ 4400 rpm, 355 ft-lb @ 2000 rpm. GNX: 3.8L V6 Turbo 276 bhp @ 4400 rpm, 360 ft-lb @ 3000 rpm.
Performance: Grand National: 1/4 mile in 14.23 seconds @ 98 mph. GNX: 0-60 in 5.5 seconds, 1/4 mile in 13.43 seconds @ 103 mph.

I'd call that a difference, if you call 130 to 170 a difference. I'd be happy to have either one in my garage though.

But still......... a dull and boring car (not to mention - auto. tranny). Hey! Great though, if all you cared about was 1/4 mile.

Boring ASS GM stuff. King of HP - Whoop de doo!! I think it all started when they began offering the Vettes with automatic trannys in the early 70's. What a travesty!!

thats why i followed what i said up with "from what i know". now implying or saying i was absolutely right but thats what i thought.

would you look at the friggen torque though. christ oh mighty! :D

Ha! Everytime I see your posts, I think of "The Big Liebowski"!! Time to see that again!!

Yeah, I was funnin' (well; a little, anyway) (chair)

Pay attention to whats said!!!!

Well Mr.Twiztedjeckel i was referring to the 4 5.0's that i used to own NOT RACED!OOPS your bad(pay attention)I know what a stang is capable of(had 13 sec. stangs sorry)And now on to Mr. RevsTo9K,i do know cars extremely well ,i also said that the national should have had me for dinner but no it looked like a good case of a piss poor driver runnin his mouth and on top of that i consider myself a good driver.YES the GN(not GNX,T-Type,Or some poser as someone else referred to it as)is very fast in a straght line and they do handle like a '72 Coupe DeVille. And yes they were faster than a Vette ,as a matter of FACT they were the fastest production car in the U.S. for many years when they came out!If you read the post i also said that my father owns a GN (who do you think maintains that car????ME)and it is not stock either.I come from a car type family(even my mother has boost on her ride!!!)I spent 3yrs. as an auto tech so i think i know what im talkin bout for all you guys that keep talkin sh*t!GN's are auto turbo 6's and do (or should ) run low 14's in stock trim.GNX's can be identified by the slightly different badging and louvers on the fenders(and are much, much faster).I got lucky that some young punk kid who thought he was gonna show off for his friends didnt realize that he does not yet know how to drive because he just got beat(walked)by a car that is a sec. slower than his in the 1/4.But another thing you guys have to realize is that when we ran we went from a roll(T-25 Spools quickly)so my turbo came in quicker than his(Hmmm??? wonder if that might have made a difference??????I think so!)So no matter how you look at it i know the facts(that i should have lost, and MSP's are no power houses)no matter what you do to any car there will always (ALWAYS!!)be someone faster than you are!NUFF SAID ,I'M DONE!!! (flame)

OH and by the way ,THANX to LinuxRacr

THANK YOU GOD for someone saying that.. i mean granted he may been riding in a GN that was beat to s*** and all messed up but trust me ... my best friend Mike Ahearn has a Black Gn and that sucker will break traction at 45 mpH and roast the tires all the way down the road .. + when that car was introduced to the world it got it's first nick name called "Corvette Killer" and it got that name for a good reason because it can do it all day long if it is kept up in prestine condition ... but although i must say it was a good story and who knows it could have happened that way but i can assure you that the turbo was not working well at all

the drivers. thats whats wrong with them. otherwise it shouldn't/wouldn't be happening. there's no way your going to convince me that the 4.6 V8 that pulls a 6sec 0-60 and a high13 low 14sec 1/4 mile is going to get beaten by our cars. right off the line with the torque the stangs produce in GT form of course should be sufficient enough to hold us off. you put the same driver in either car and your going to get the same results.

nice job but just don't go getting in over your head. wait, didn't the GN's and Turbo Regals only come as auto's?

man.. some kid in his black msp tried to race my dad in his z06 vette yesterday.. needless to say he got lit up an my dad only went to second gear.. but.. serious.. is that whats goin on? the car is cool.. but everything has its limits..
Its like last year i was driving my dads other car.. 2000 lincoln ls v8 with auto stick.. and friggin rice boys with fart cans, apc parts and aluminum poser ::err racer:: wings were tryin to race it.. its like come on.. take your moms civic home an take all your bolt on parts off.
Im not knocking the msp guys,.. but know your roll.. thats like me pullin up next to a impala in my auto p5.. or against a cobra.. it just isnt competiotion... if i wanna look like im standing still ill park the car.

Just to reiterate we were on a roll and his turbo was workin as i heard it spool up as we were leaving the light (sounded healthy but thats means nothing)and the car was not a POS ,it was actually in impressive shape(ext. wise),damn near perfect paint and body. Its a damn shame that a young punk kid owns it because i would rather own it and let it sit in my garage than let some young kid destroy it because he THINKS he knows something about cars!

oh s***,oops. i didn't realize i was the ass for you saying you owned(raced) a car and that you also owned(were the owner of) 4 mustangs. well somebody kick me in the nuts why don't ya.

well put mypfizzle. the MSP isn't a race car or a sports car. yes it has its sporty features and it has its quickness when it needs it but by no means am i going to go out and start s*** talking with somebody and their fully blown mustang. just ain't gonna happen. then again i'm not going to be doing anything with the car untill i get some stuff back for it to put in the engine bay.:(

Well, it could be his dad's car (as you said you've driven and maintained your dad's GN).

I know the Ford Turbos from the birds and cats during the same time 83-86 had a high failure rate. And unless you had a boost gauge you wouldn't know it, except that the car didn't ggggoo. But thats Ford not GM...

...anyway...it was an auto right? how hard is it to drive an auto in a straight line? Unless he sat there and squealed the tires it should have been a walk in the park for him.

talk to the supra guys who have 700rwhp auto's and see how easy it is for them to keep it in a straight line

i used to be able to chirp the tires from 1st-2nd in my auto LS1 Trans Am. actually broke loose on my one day too, i think that was on a freshly blacktopped road though.

Ok.you guys are not getting it,(and im not mad at anyone you guys(some of you)need to read better before you reply)we did not race from a stand still and YES ALL GN'S ARE AUTO,we raced from about a 20 roll,he got a small jump and then i pulled on him not much maybe a car length but i was proud for it was a race i expected from the get go to lose!I was just curious to see how bad he would beat me but to my surprise i walked all over him

READ:DRIVER DOES MAKE A WORLD OF DIFFERENCE IN ANY CAR!!!!

i have a question.. how does the driver make a diff in a auto? you stomp on the gas and go..i could understand in a manual where u can double clutch and down shift and toe shift an stuff.. but auto = slam foot to the floor + hold wheel straight = the best your gunnah do.

Which is why I think A) he was messing with you because he has a muscle car and you have a ricer (in his eyes) and he gets invitations to race all the time, or B) His boost was busted.

IMO he was messing with you b/c he didn't blow you right off the line. You gotta remember, every kid in a civic/mustang/whatever that pulls up to a stop light next to this guy, is gonna wanna race. I'd get sick of it personally, as I'm sure he does. Unless its his daddy's car and he was takiing it out for a joy ride.
