Is there any way possible to lower the height of the shift knob? I just bought a 2003 P5 and it just feels a little tall for me. IF anyone has ever drove a 300zx or an NSX they might know what i am takling about.... i am searching for a 300zx shift knob but regardless it is still too high for my liking... thanks for any input, this is my first post :)

Yea,... you just heat up and remove the extension on the shifter.

You may have to thread the remaining part,... I forget.

Or get an msp shifter. It's the actual shaft that's long not the knob ( that sounds horrible)

I love the shifter in my mp3 its pretty much perfect msp was a bit short for my taste

And do not get an obx short shifter my brother snapped one in half in 20 degree weather

And how do you go from a 300zx and nsx to a p5? Quite the difference in taste

Just get a short shifter...they're easy to install and make a huge difference. It's better than just removing the extension because you don't have to rethread and short shifters don't just change the geometry above the pivot point (like you would be doing just shortening the stock shifter) they change it below the pivot point as well. It's money well spent.

OR,.... you could move the ball on your shifter to the position of your choice to create your own custom long throw short shifter !!!

I never owned the Z or NSX, my boss is a bit of a car lover and he used to let me drive them.... But back to the topic, has anyone used TwM??? Are their short shifters decent?

Installing a short shifter was a very popular mod about 5 or 6 years ago. I remember TWM was one of the better choices back then. You can probably do search on this forum for short shifters and find a lot of info.
