Let me start with saying I love your cars and their looks, price, and performance posibilities, while still being a four door people mover. With that said...my girlfriend wants to get rid of her 2000 Prelude and she and I both like the MazdaSpeed Protege.

Just wondering if you guys/girls could give me some info on the cars daily drivability. I want her to have a problem free car like her current Honda. Please respond so I can go to the Mazda dealership and get one. Thanks.:)

BTW : She likes the black one.

7,600 miles (5 1/2 months) and not 1 problem. The only thing is the "clunk" noise when going over big bumps and to tell you the truth I didn't even notice it until after i read about it here.

hi. welcome to the site. glad to see you have an interest in the MSP... i have to say i love this car.. coming from a previous honda owner, this car doesn't come close to comparing with my honda in about every department.. handling, speed, comfortability, pick-up, everything on this car IMO is better than my honda was.. dependability i can't say yah or nah b/c i am a first time mazda owner and i've already had 2 hondas.. my hondas were dependable, but i haven't heard otherwise about mazda either. now i've read on here a lot of probs ppl have been having with these cars, but i haven't really had any probs.. soo it's been great for me.. hope this was helpful and let me know what you decide!

I've had two Mazda's now, and never had a single problem, except how much money I could spend to upgrade parts. I must say, I didn;t notice the clunk, until it was metioned on here, and still don't notice any hesitation. The car is sooooo much fun to drive. I couldn't believe how quick it was when i got it, especially for the price. All I really have to say, is that for me, there is nothing other than Mazda from now on. Since I've had my Pro5, then MSP, people I know have gotten Mazda's, and no one is having trouble. Of course, like any car, if you abuse it, it will have problems, but just don't constantly redline without shifting, or go 0-60-0-60-0-100-0 all the time really quickly, it will eventually start to bring problems about. But once in a while, like at an auto-X or something, it handles such things impecably. YOU WILL LOVE THE MAZDASPEED!!!!

If you want to save yourself some money, I'm selling my MSP right now for $17,500. Email me if you are interested.

Thanks for all the input, but we're not getting the MazdaSpeed because the dealership only wanted to give my gf $11000 for her 2000 Prelude . Her Honda still runs good so she's just gonna stick with it. But thanks again for the input.
