Is this possible? - I just want to add 2 subs in a sealed box and a V12 amp off of the factory wiring and bass tube. (except the 12v power source) I want to run rca's from the bass tube into the amp witch goes to the subs - I want to splice off of the factory remote wire and into my amp - I wil be using a seperate ground for the amp - Is this even possible and if so will I loose quality in sound or am I at any risks?

i was thinking the same thing...well, im sure the audio gurus will be in shorty to enlighten us both.

The GURU has arrived.

The only wiring useful from the stock powered tube is the remote turn on lead and the RCAs.

You don't need the tube to use these. Cut the harness on the sub back about 6" so it can be used if you sell the tube.
Remove the tube and use the RCA's from it to the new alpine amp. Also extend the remote wire, blue/white if memory serves, to the new amp. You may need some short RCA's with barrels to extend the RCAs. Although At that point I'd re run my own, since the stock ones are of terrible quality.

You will need to run a new power wire, atleast 8 guage, bigger depending on the amp. A ground of equal guage will also be needed, basicly a wiring kit will do the trick, I love Monster Cable becuase they include sealing heat shrink.

Also with some L bracket you can bolt your ne box down to the old ones location.

I second the removal of the old tube. Trying to get bass from 2 different types of speakers and enclosures usually does more harm than good. Stick with one or the other.

so you guys think that it is best to take out the factory tube and just keep the 2 10's ?

Do you think it will sound better?

Is it even possible to run new box from the out's on the bass tube?

I have a monster cable kit (8 guage) and I was thinking that the sound would be a lot better if I run it from the HU to the amp.

Is there enough room on the HU?

will there be extra preouts for this?

or will I have to remove the factory rca's?

Take out the factory tube.

the tube plus the 2 tens will sound like ass.

A power wire kit is run from the battery for power and the RCAs and remote turn on wire come from the radio.

The Z919 or Z828 which ever your car came with both have 3 Preouts. However only one, the one alreay used is designed for a sub amp.

You can use the RCA currently going into your tube and go directly to the new amp, there is no need to loop through the tube.

It is very possible to loop the RCAs through the bass tube but it is useless as the tube will hurt the perfomance of the other 10's you want to add.

You can use the factory RCA's for the new amp, no need to replace them, They aren't the best quality but they work so why bother.

In all you shouldn't have to take the radio out at all to do this. Just run the new power wire from the battery and use the RCAs and remote wire that are already going to the tube for your new amp.

All done

Ok - I'm all set - thankyou for all of your help!

I just finished the install yesterday - not bad only 30 min.

I just ran all new wires and tapped of the factory remote wire for my V12 amp.

Sounds a lot better now - It has a nice clean tight punch.

Thanx again!

Oh, BTW - I wanted to ask you a question ............

I know somebody that is a mobile specialist @ tweeter in Albany, NY and she wanted to know who you were....

I plan to get a whole new set up for this spring and I wanted to keep everything Kenwood and tweeter just happens to be one of the ony auth. retailer for the Excelon line in my direct area. I told her all about the Mp3 and the fact that we have a MECP cert. installer from tweeter in the forum..........she thinks it is possible she may have trained with you.........

Her name: CHRISTA ROWELL

what do you think?

I didn't get trainign through tweeter at all. I went to 7th Row center Hands-on for the MECP certification and instruction. Since the MES I was working under knew what I could do he allowed me to come in with out dealing with any of tweeters in house traing. Its great I don't even have to go to meetings.:p

sweet, than I guess not - I'll clear that up with her.

i have another question for you and I will send a pm..........
