Painting 03.5 Lip

I'm getting ready to order supplies to my 03.5 lip. I'm wondering if I need an adhesive promoter or a rubberized (flexible) primer. The lip is already painted (and the paint is in decent shape), but it's just the wrong color. I also wasn't sure if I'd be able to get away with just painting after a scuff and clean.

For anybody who has painted one of these before, how many cans (I'll be using color matched paint from paintscratch) did you need to get full coverage on the lip?

i used rustoleum automotive primer after giving the original paint on the lip a good sanding and 3 cans of duplicolor (8oz cans and still had some leftover). and then a can of automotive clear followed with a wetsand. it's been holding up well for about a year now

Awesome. This will save me from having to order any specialized primer. Thanks guys.
