P5 Gas tanks

Hello, I just bought my 3rd Mazda but this time a P5(flash) I wanted to know if this car has a protective cover on the gas tank? I was told that the gas tank was replaced, I looked under the car and it's still rusty (cryhard) But then i was told it was under the cover. Mazda Canada said there is no cover? UPDATE, They do have a cover to protect the tank.

Question, why was the gas tank replaced?? It's not an old car? the oldest ones (i have a 2006) are barely 4 years old. the tank should last much longer than that, unless it was in an accident that you were not told about.

Of course if your talking about a protege 5, then you're posting in the wrong forum!!
