Opinions on mod plans with safety in mind

I'm going to change absolutely nothing about the suspension part of my MSP anytime in the near future

No plans to mess with the exhaust anytime soon

no plan to get forged internals or need them anytime soon




Infact the only things I'm changing for the most part are the plastic pieces..... got rid of stock airbox and piping....... and plan to get rid of intercooler and have hardpiping put in.


man thats hardly an MSP anymore! Only 90% of the car is still stock! Crazyness!

Slightly more power (not looking for 13's) the before mentioned mods I mentioned are hardly needed.
I would upgrade the exhuast before the intercooler personaly. You'll run into less dealership bulls***. A swapped intercoller is a dead give away that the boost has been upped.

ummmmm I don't think Pkay is looking to run 13s.....he's just looking for simple safe upgrades to increase performance (a little bit) and cure some of the heat problems. At least that's how I read his post. I may be wrong and I appolagize.

From all the posts I've read of blown engines and voided warrenties......I too am hesitant in uping my boost beyond 10psi or so. I also want minimal upgrades to increase performance but not so much to race 13-14s in the 1/4. I'd just like it just to have it, but won't rag it out to beat that civic trying to race me on a light.

To be safe, even running 10 PSI will totaly viod your engine warrenty. If anything goes wrong you are on your own. I would do wahteve I could to aviod upping boost to stay totaly in warrenty. Intakes and exhuast are becoming more acepted by dealers. Perhaps if the dealer ok'ed it ahead of time then the intercooler would be nice.

Would the dealer have a problem with a new intercooler if you don't up your boost? They should know the dilema they put us to when they gave us that small ass IC.

FunkyCold5 - as long as your boost isn't increased, they cannot deny your warranty on the basis of using aftermarket parts (ie: upgraded I/C). The upgraded I/C will in itself allow the car to run more efficiently and extend the life the components which are under heat stress.

BINGO!!

I would do a intercooler long before uping the boost especialy with dealers voiding warrenties.

Yes I know the comment was sarcastic but you guys have to get off the kick that there is something holy special about the MSP. There isn't except for some cool parts. Its a great from facotry car but if you want it to do things it can not from the factory do then pars have to be changed.
It does have a collection of GREAT parts including the suspension and LSD but other then that everything can be improved and if an MSP owner desires more power, something has to go.
As with any car, for a tuner the MSP is a starting point not an end.
Changing parts and tweaking others hardly makes the car no longer an MSP.

I don't want to jack the thread, but I think I need to clarify what I was saying. I am not saying that MSPs should not be modded, or that they are "holy" from the factory. It is just my opinion that if you are going to pay extra for a turbo car, with a turbo being arguably the most expensive mod you can do in terms of both time and money, it doesn't make a lot of sense to replace the turbo. Why pay extra for something you aren't going to use? It would at least be worth adding up the figures to buy an ES or base and add the MSP suspension and the turbo that you want from the start.

I can understand that if you want LSD you almost have to go with the MSP. I wasn't trying to state a principle or rule or say that the cars shouldn't be modded. I just hate to see money wasted if you could get what you want more cheaply.

And yes, I was being sarcastic, only because I just wanted to throw in my 2 cents without it being taken so seriously that it detracted from the thread.

P.S. If you pay the 20k, you can do whatever you want. Just giving my opinion.
