Oil light flickering!!! WTF, Chuck???

Hey peeps, my oil light seems to be flickering when I start the car. It seems to go away whenever I start to drive it more, but this has been going on more and more after I switched to the spin-on oil filter conversion kit with the sandwhich plate for an oil pressure guage. Does anybody know what it might be?? If more info is needed, just let me know.

Tell you what, I am going to see if I can install the oil pressure guage that I have and confirm that. Anybody else have any ideas as well?

If it's only when the car is starting, I bet the spin-on filter you are using either doesn't have an anti-drainback valve, or the valve is too weak for this motor. The anti-drainback valve will keep some oil pressure in the system (albeit very little) to prevent oil starvation during startup.

This might not be the issue, but your symptoms make sense to me. Unfortunately, I have no idea what specs you'll be looking for regarding the filter you would need to run.

got under the car yesterday, and eventhough everything was tight, there seemed to be a leak from somewhere. I think that I am going to have to look a bit deeper into this. Unfortunately, it won't be until tomorrow. Luckily, the dip-stick is saying that I am good as far as the oil level goes.

so I had to fill up the car with around 5 quarts of 5w30 yesterday because the car was almost bone dry. . . eventhough everything was tight as a 12 year old. I know that I have a slight oil leak, just need to dig around and see where.

Oil plug is still there Terry.
