Hey Guys,
What battery comes with the P5 stock? The one that was in my car is a panasonic battery. I am thinking it's the original battery that came in the car! I just replaced the completely worn out battery at 111,000 miles.

I just replaced my stock battery too. It also was the panasonic one....i think folks were laughing about the fact it was panasonic, but hey, mine lasted me 77k miles...not too shabby.

(it was still kicking, but was pretty slow cranking during cold snaps, so I decided to have it tested...it failed the crank/load test at the shop...even though it was fully charged.) The replacement battery really let me know how slow the crank was turning over before...(with a bad battery). Glad I changed it out and was not stranded anywhere...

I'm happy with how long the OE battery worked though.

I have 150k on mine and 6 years. Still running the stock battery. I've never had a battery last this long.

I had my Panasonic die at 20,000 mi or less. I replaced it with a Yellow Top, Aluminum Battery cage from E-Bay, and Firsty's Full Grounding Kit with Monster Cable Connectors (I don't think the ground kits are available anymore). No more problems.

i want to get a red top. anyone have any ideas where to get one online? PG only has yellow tops and 189 is really expensive...

You don't understand why the AGM Optima is so expensive? Its an Absorbed Glass Mat battery- higher quality. In fact, the latest Consumer Reports shows that the new DieHard Platinum (also a AGM battery) was much better than the Optima. The yellow top in our track car failed so we are going with the DieHard Platinum.

I can't complain: more power than the Optima, and 3 more year warranty (4 year full replacement, 100 months prorated).

Check out the DieHard Platinums.

Just replaced mine at 40k. Lasted quite good considering how many times the interior light had been left on overnight, etc...

plus I left for 3 months this past summer and "someone" was supposed to take my car out every week but decided to wait a good month and a half before doing so, at which point it was dead for good :(

Overall, can't believe I got so far on a stock battery. Not to shabby!

I have an Exide 'Orbital'. Got it because of it's Max Amp of 1100 CCA!

Living in Canada, a huge amount of Cold Crank Amps really helps in the cold. Good warranty too, and the fact that it's a deep cycle/spiral cell is a big plus.

I was going to get platium DieHard, but they said they didn't have one that would work for the P5. I got the gold instead.

Its not 1100 CCA. Its "1100 Amps at 5 seconds" whatever that may mean.

Just picked up the group size 35 DieHard Platinum for the 02 P5. $202 from Sears. Car started freaking out so I had to use the door lock trick.

Installed?

Should have been $179.99
Core (if app) $10
Install ($12.99)
Tax ($?)

Either way, you're much better off with Consumer Reports TOP rated battery with a 4 year full replacement battery.

Well, I didn't wanna go that far so I went with the Everstart from walmart for 72.00. 850 cca, 3 yr full replacement & 8 yr prorated. Just put the truck back on the road so same thing went in it too.

you mean 850 CA... probably 640cca or so.

unless its an AGM you don't see that power out of a conventional lead acid battery.
