2007 Mazda 5 GT
Hi all, just got a 07 mazda5 GT about 6 weeks ago now and trying to learn what I can about them. So far loving it, except for the stupid drive by wire TB (yupnope) thankfully still has warranty :)

Welcome to the Mazda 5 family and to this forum. What sort of problems are you having with the drive-by-wire system?

BTW, I'm just up the road on Vanc. Isle :)

Welcome to the family!

Yes, I am very curious too what the problem is with the drive by wire? Isn't almost everything produced these days a drive by wire system? If this bothers you, just wait till Microsoft WINDOWS X is running your car, and you get blue screened when you try to open your moonroof. :)

I think everything as DBW these days... but I find Mazda's better than many of the others, it's quite responsive to my heel toe techniques compared to the 2008 Corolla I had before. Welcome though!

al:

welcome!

do you have a manual or auto? I know you canadians can get manuals in the GT.

i think i know what you are talking about though. the 5 can be a bit jumpy on the gas. you have to be easy getting going. (anybody who has every driven a newer ford would know there is a huge difference. i drive them at work and literally you have to get the gas pedal half way before it moves)

at least my 08 5 auto is jumpy when starting out.

my protege5 is one of the last mazdas made with no fly by wire throttle. starting 2004, all mazdas had fly by wire throttles.

It is a 5 speed, but other then getting used to the extremely light clutch in it, thats not the problem. the CEL light has come on a few times now and when that happens, the car goes into limp mode and has very little throttle response. took it to the dealership and they said the TB needs to be replaced.

^^^ Did the first of the Mazda6s have a throttle cable?

well no, but the protege was still made in 2003, so that is why i said it that way.

and al, sounds like you have figured out your problem. not the same as what i have noticed.
