Hi everyone, i'm kinda perplexed to the oil in my new car. It was a demo with 2200 miles on it when I bought it 3 weeks ago. Had the oil changed by the dealership cause it looked black. After it was changed with quaker state syn-blend 5-20 the oil was nice and clean. I drove it for 250 miles and checked it when filling up and the oil is black again. This seemed a little strange to me so I asked the dealership mechanic if this was something that needs attention. He said that a turbo will do that to the oil and not to worry about it. What do you all think?

Well changing my oil every 3k miles it would be black even before I was turboed, and that's with synthetic oils. I think it depends on how you drive the car.

Welcome to the forums though!

5W20? i just got my oil changed at my dealer and they used 5W30 synth-blend. my dealer recommends 5k mile oil change intervals too.

synthetic oils and most dino oils have detergents in them to clean deposits off of the engine. These detergents will turn your oil black in NO time.

so yes, its normal.

Thanks , I wont worry about it anymore. Thanks for the help.

yep perfectly normal... Blue dont worry 5w30 is essentially the same. If you're going to run your oil longer durations I'd def make sure the get an oil analysis the first time to make sure you are still within TBN range for that oil. Turbos tend to "tear up" oil a little faster than N/A engines which is what most oil companies test on for their longevity claims.
