Woohoo!!!

I finally got to make a few runs at the 1/8 mile track in my truck, with the timing turned on! LOL Usually I am too cheap to pay the full $21.00, but there was hardly anyone there, I got to make 14 runs in about half an hour. Even better than that, is what I got to race!

My best run of the night was 8.640 ET -- 82.021 MPH -- 2.034 0-60ft.. I ran the entire night N/A, I had a little N20, but not enough for the shot that I am running now. Traction was a bit of a problem, but other than that my truck is running perfect with it's newly rebuilt Corvette Spec. 700R4 transmission.

Even better is the turnout of of cars there... There were 2 newer Vette's, an older Saleen Mustang, a few Z28's and regular camaros, A first gen. Ford Lightning, Toyota Celica All-trac, Neon SRT-4, a 99' or so Civic Si, and a bunch of riced out sentras, and regular older model civics.

The two Vette's only wanted to race with each other, so that sort of sucked. The first person who said they wanted to run with me was the Neon! It was Black, and looked to be all stock. Hell, it was brand new, so I guess it was... He drove through the water box, so I knew from the beginning he didn't have a clue. On that run, I think he ran something like 11 seconds, as he didn't get traction until about the 60 ft mark.. lol. His subsequent runs inproved, but he kept getting beat by the Civic Si, who seemed to only want to race him. It looked as if he needed a whole lot more practice before he would get anything decent performance wise.

My second run was against a 1996 Z28 with more mods than I could count. I think he was running a 4.10 or 4.11 rear, because he could pull extremely hard from the start. He was the only one to break into the 7's... He had a good 4 or 5 carlengths on me, but it was still fun.

Next, I got to race the lightning. I red-lighted but still won by a small margin the first run. I don't know what the hell he had done, but it would run like a son of a b**** in the latter half of the track. Our next run, we both hooked up solid, and I only managed about 3/4 of a c.l. at the finish (he overcame about 2 cl's I pulled at the start, to that at the end of the 1/8). With N2O, It would have been much more one sided, but he had one hell of a truck.

Finally, my last runs were just for times, as I lined up about 5 times with a 92ish Civic 4dr... He had aftermarket wheels in the back and steelies on the front, spoiler, some designs on the side, and a great big tach on the dash... He talked a little smack right before we ran about how he'd never lost to a truck, etc... but he was mainly joking around. I told him I'd be gentle... ;) I think he ran mid 12's that time, maybe... I ran my best time the next race against him... The distance was too much to judge in c.l.'s.. lol Cool guy though.

Also, my neighbor's asked if their kid could ride with me on my last run, he's 5 I think... The track officials let you have a ride along as long as it's not bracket racing or anything, and if you have passed the basic test and tune safety rules. It was hillarious. This little kid in the middle of the bench seat between his dad and I, wearing an X-tra Large HJC helmet, screaming "Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!" for the entire length of 1/8 mile. I laughed my ass off... A future racing fan in the making. We raced the damn All-trac supra that last one who unfortunately had a horribly bad slipping clutch and couldn't even try worth a damn. Oh well, fun stuff!

Man it sounds like fun. I wanna go out and try it just to have some fun. I've never done it so it'd be a new experience.

Just go to a test and tune night at a local track, tell a track official it's your first time... They should tell you enough of the routine to get you started... It is damn fun!
