What exactly do motor mounts add to the car? And who is the best person to get them from? Or actually a better question would be does it really make a difference who you get them from?

your engine moves alot when you drive especially with a high powered vehicle
motor mounts keep it in place alot better then the OEM ones would.

ive heard they also reduce wheel hop.

i drive a 6s so getting motor mounts for my car wouldnt be worth the money unless i got into autoX

Does that transfer more power to the wheels? I also heard it makes it drive different...

It will xfer a little more power to the wheels but were not talking 20hp here.
The stock motor mount on the MS6 has a rubber center that is designed to absorbe the vibrations of the motor. That way your average driver does not feel the vibrations in the steering wheel. As a result there is a small loss of power xfer to the wheels. Also it allows the motor to move far more that I feel it should, i.e. before I got my AWR when I shifted hard into second it sounded and felt like the motor was hitting the firewall.

After I installed my AWR mount I did notice a little vibration in the steering wheel and you can see the rear view mirror vibrating a little when accelerating, but I've had it on for a few weeks now and I don't even feel the vibrations in the steering wheel anymore. Also when I shift hard there is no more loud thump from the enging compartment.

As far as which one to get, we'll thats up to you. They are all better than the stock one. I got the AWR because it looked like the stiffist and it was the cheapest.

so is AWR the best motor mount?

I found it on street unit site but uh.... they also have other motor mounts listed as well...... and i don't like that thump feeling i felt when I accelerated hard the other day.

buy it from mazda6online.com that is where i got mine from plus its 10$ cheaper than su.com

the awr is the best bang for the buck, i wouldn't mess with the other ones as they are not much stiffer than stock...stock is around 50 durometers...were su's is 60 something....

I'm looking at mazda6online.com and they have the AWR for $65.... very nice.......but it lists 70 durometer and 88 durometer........

What stiffness are you guys with the AWR running, and why did you make that choice?

when i bought mine there was only 1 option and i beleive its 88. i guess they made a softer one for people wanted a softer option... idk lol well i need to get mine installed damn im lazy

i'm not sure if i should get 70 or 88..... is there anything anywhere i can read up on the difference between the 18 durometers between the 2?

if your reeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaallllyyy sensitive to vibration get the 70...if you dont care for feeling a little bit get the 88....i was kind of disappointed when i put mine in because of what everyone had been saying about how much vibration there was because i was hoping for a similar feel abit less than my full poly mount talon.....but with the 70 i noticed no additional vibration

You gotta support the engine VERY CAREFULLY with a jack or jcakstand. If you get the AWR you also have to break off a little tab that is designed to hold the stock mount in place to make it easier to bolt on. This tab is not needed to reinstall the stock mount, it just makes it possible for the mount to be set in place at one assmebly line station and bolted at the next.

I'm lost.... you're saying to put a jackstand or a jack under the car, under the engine, and pump up the jack to the point it will support the engine, but not lift the car.... and then install the mount? Am I understanding that correctly, or no?

6club has a how to in the mazdaspeed section

you are correct, use the jack to lift the motor to align the holes

i'll have to go sign up at that forum.... thanks. I figured I understood what was meant, but just wanted to be 100% sure.

Last I checked, people found a flaw with the SU mount that caused excessive vibration. Information on that is also at the 6club site. I was considering getting one but I'm going to see if I can get the clutch TSB taken care of first because all I'm looking for is less "buck" from the engine when I shift.

from what i've been reading online people seem happy with the AWR and the CP-E mount.........

and the tabs arn't that hard to remove. a good pair or diagnal cutters and a cold chisel and hammer.
