Megan Racing Springs?

Had them on my msp, drop was nice but spring quality is terrible, they got all rusty in about a year

i dont care much about rusty springs, its usually only surface rust, as long as the ride is decent.

and, i was looking for impressions on the mazda5, not the protege/protege5. thanks.

I had them on my Corolla... awesome track springs and great drop, but too teeth rattling. Definitely not springs to have if you have kids. H&R Racing springs provide about the same performance but aren't as stiff, just a better engineered product although with a price. Tein H Tech is your best bet if you want ride quality just a slight bit stiffer than stock.

yeah, i was looking at the teins, but they didnt have a mazda5 specific spring. if i went with the mazda3 version, i would worry about the rear being too low and soft.

I am going to install springs this weekend, H&R Sports for a Mazda 3. They are rated with a 1.3" F and 1.2" R drop. I will let you know what the actual drop is.

i look forward to it. H&R makes mazda5 specific springs, i just wish they weren't so dang expensive! the megans can be had on ebay for ~$100 or so, and the tein h-tech mazda3's can be had for ~$150-ish. the H&R's are $250!

You prob know this already but you get what you pay for. If you plan on keeping the car for a while, an extra ~$100 is nothing.

Tis good to worry. You get what you pay for.

I went the cheap route with MS3 springs, and the rear is 1/2" lower in the rear... saggy butt. And it looks funny. But I cannot convince the wife we need to spend more $$ on springs just to fix the ride height.

Yes the rear will be much lower, cause I had the Canucks Motorsport springs on my Mazda 5. Remember the springs were for the 3's so that's why the back was like an inch lower:) With these Mazda 3 springs i was scraping every, even I take it real slow in an angle:(.Now i have a new set in ,they where made for me by Canuck motorsport. 1.5 all the way around and 15% stiffer than the stock.

what about some spring spacers like this? - http://www.summitracing.com/parts/LNG-61170/
maybe not those EXACT ones, but something that would fit the springs.

;) thanks for convincing me that i DON'T want mazda3 springs.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but i am trying to help, our 5's are like 600 lbs more than the 3's. Someone correct me if i am wrong.:) Cheers

I think the rear MS3 springs are ok, its the fronts that sits too high. Remember that the MS#s are way heavier in the frontr compatred to 3 and tghe 5s are way heavier in the rears. I initially had MS3 spring about the same time as Red headz. When I got the chance on another set of springs I installed progress up front and I like how it matched with the MS3 springs at the back. The MS3 springs are way beefier than the progress. I just used 4 pcs. of spring booster per side now the rears are 1/2 inch higher than the fronts. BTW, I've had the spring booster for a bout 2 yrs now and I had a problem with rear alignment. Looks like the spring booster had been squeezed to a point that the car sits lower (about same as front) and the camber and toe in/out was affected. Installed SPC camber links and all is good now. I would recommend to anybody who's lowering their 5 with any brand springs to install camber links NOW as it might not need it yet but later on it will eventually sag lower and will mess up your alignment and will have to install one to correct it. I've learned the hard way.

"spring booster"? do you mean the rubber spring spacers? do you have a product link to what you used? thanks.

thanks dude. was the ride harsh at all? our 5 is the wife's car, and she doesnt want it to ride too hard. (some things she prefers to be softer :D) all i want is the darn thing to not lean and wobble so much in the corners.

I've driven lowered cars since I was 16 (35 now)...Honestly best ride I've had on lowering springs....and that was with factory struts and shocks. Cornered like a champ and soaked up bumps pretty good...No bouncing around like I've had on other lowered cars.

thanks for the feedback. my car is lowered on tokico springs and hp struts, and the ride is not bouncy either. however, you feel everything thats going on under the car and on the road, too. my wife doesnt want to feel every little bump and crack in the pavement, and i want a more controlled ride. i dont know, worst that happens is i uninstall them and try to re-sell them here on the forum, right? :D
