Maff's STS2 Build

More setbacks :(

Well, I had a very mixed weekend. Luke and I ran the 'Novice' school on Saturday and got a seat time in the car with a local legend, apexlater (thanks Wayne!). I dropped a full 7 seconds from my first run in the morning, and I'm pretty sure Luke and I put about 40 runs on the car total.

The Major:
HOWEVER, while driving back from that event, the clutch gremlins struck again, and hard. There's something seriously FUBARed with the clutch hydraulics, and I'm not sure if it's the master or the slave. Some of the symptoms point to the slave, some to the master. There's no external fluid leak, and it seems to be keeping a good fluid level, however the pedal keeps going to the floor until it's pumped 3-5 times, and then it just BARELY worked. However, when pumping the clutch, you can hear a puff of air type sound from around the master cylinder. Hmmmm.

Here's what it was the whole way back: Red light. Green light: pump pump pump pump 1st gear. Rev. Pump pump pump pum pump... 2nd gear.... etc. That was possibly the most stressful drive home from an event I've ever had. However, on the way back, I stopped by advance auto and ordered a new clutch master and slave cylinders, and picked up a flare nut wrench and brake fluid. Picked the parts up tonight after the autocross. I was very fortunate that a pro-class driver allowed Rogue and I to use his STS2 CRX (aka Bubba lol) for our runs. We went back and forth for a good while (my 4th run actually put in in the class lead temporarily), but we ended up 2nd and 3rd in class. Luke would have had me his last run, as he was on a scorcher, but he carried too much speed through a sweeper and missed a gate.

The Minor:
As I mentioned before, I ordered new seats. They should arrive tomorrow, and I won't be driving Dory for a while, so I decided to pull the seats tonight. Working on the driver's side, I noticed a ball bearing on the floor. Uh oh.

I took the corbeau slider off the driver's seat and noticed something was definately wrong, as that slider should not be crooked.

Took a peek inside, and found this: That roller is supposed to be at about 90* from where it is, upright, not flat on its side (like the 1 at the far end). Anyway, e-mailed corbeau w/ pics, and I hope to hear from them soon.

Fortunately I've got 3 weeks before the next event to get these situations sorted out. Hopefully the clutch will be done by this week. I can go ahead and mount the seats as well. The passenger side should be 100%, and I still have the 'KCBHIW special' bracket that will mount up to the new driver's seat and use the stock sliders temporarily. Hurray for spares. Now I just hope I can drive the car just long enough over to TinmanMS6's house to borrow his garage for a night and get the new hydraulic bits on the car.

Ahhh! No! It'll gay up my garage!!! Wait. Nevermind, it's a pretty gay little garage in the first place.
Yeah, what w/ the skrivic taking up space (rofl)

haha sure did! It even put about $7 towards the master cylinder as well! lol

hey man i hope your clutch issues work out...just dont pump too much or itl esplode on your face!

anyways thats good to see you improved your time, hope this isnt a major setback!

what are y'all talking about? The pedal's moving, but the clutch isn't disengaging. The pedal mostly goes straight to the floor, so I don't think the line pressure is increasing.
