Kenwood 6*9 change out in MSP

insidious try sticking them up your ass.

By the way what I meant was I wanted more sound out of my MSP by adding 6*9's. ******* get a life and think before you post, critizing people and s***. This is the bulls*** joe always talked about.

That was a confusing response. My posts have absolutely nothing to do with you. Someone has a reading comprehension problem. This is the bulls*** Mr. Rodgers always talked about.

1st it is everyones smart ass comments on everything.

Since this is a thread about MSP's how would you then go about it..I.E. what do you audio gods say I do? I believe someone said install a 2/4 channel amp. I am just curious on brands that you guys favor as well as the quality to match the MSP's current setup.

I'd like to upgrade the sub and amp later on as well, and trust me it will be in the audio forum.

I didn't see any insulting comments and I just re-read this thread 5 times.

Mostly we are all on the side of this topic poking fun at the lack of clearly defined areas of posting. It has nothing to do with you.

What is it that you are trying to add to the system?
Volume, clarity, misbass, head imploding low end?

What I got from it was a F you buddy... take your speakers and put them up your private poop shoot b/c you are thread jacking...

Dunno.. hope this helps

I also have a spare pair of 6x9s, and asked if they would fit in the front doors. After 1st explained it would be a difficult task making them fit, I jokingly implied I need to sell them now.

(lol)

Sorry, Chris...I didn't mean to step on your feelings (EDIT:what the hell does that mean!?!?), man. We're just screwing around. If you look in the Car audio section at two threads, "MSP replacement plan" and "the 1000$ audio challenge" (it's a sticky) I think there are some fantastic ideas for a 4 channel amp. The MSP plan is my thread regarding my progress. I'd prefer that people didn't copy the ideas, but on the whole they're not really original, so what the hey, right? There's also a new audio challenge going on in there for a matched system (all by one brand excluding HU), but there's no price cap on that one, so it's a little outrageous! Also...if you live near a tweeter or other good car audio store, go and audition speaker and amp combos to find what you like. That's really the best way! Good luck moving forward...let us know if you need anything else!

lol a little of that. I am looking for all around sound improvement. More in the low end bass, but I'd like to start with a 2/4 channel amp for the higher tones. I know Lanzar makes high power amps but I have heard quality sucks.

As for the low end bass, I am really fond of image dynamics. I think last time I checked they had a 1000 Watts RMS. 12 incher out on the market. I am just not sure of the amp to power it.

To clarify I am asking what 2/4 channel amp do you think I should use for my MSP since it already has basic audio upgrades from the factory.

This belongs in the audio forum but what box does everyone use for their systems in there MSP's? Sealed...Ported...Bandpass

Servoeyes I am on the same note as you thats why I am going with Image Dynamics because I have not seen anyone around Tampa with them.

JL audio, Alpine, or Eclipse are the three best mainstream SQ amps (for the MSP) that come to mind. I'm using an Eclipse.

As for a sub...I like eD's style and purported SQ/Accuracy...so that's what I'm going with...plus, I doubt most of these Audiobahn/RF freaks around here will know what the hell it is! :D

YOu are so full of s***. Since the sub fires directly into the trunk that would make it a ported box if it did have rear cut outs as ports.

A two chamber enclosure with the ports from the compression loaded chamber is a fourth order band pass. Do you know what corner loading is?

Britt

Your missing a chamber. Unless your counting the trunk as the ported chamber in which case that is not a 4th order box.

Nor are holes in the rear deck port.

Sorry for the full of s*** call, I thought you were kidding.

It is simply a sealed box firing into a trunk which is anything but sealed up or ported.

The trunk is the second chamber. If you listen with the seat down, it makes a big difference,

Britt

The MSP enclosure is sealed, though...and the rear deck pass-thrus are covered (hence not really pass-thrus) so I'm not sure where the bandpass comes in...but like I've said before, I'm new at this.

As for what type of enclosure is best...well...Sealed is the easiest way to get great sound. It's the easiest to build, and the easiest to build right. That's what I'll be using, for sure...however, for more boom, there's ported enclosures and or course, 6-th order bandpass. But if you don't know what you're doing, they can be a quick way to kill a sub.

The trunk is simply an envirnment the sub is playing into. it is in no way calculated to be sized chamber with relation to the sub, sealed chamber, port diameter or port length.

Any semi covered envirnment will get louder when you allow it to vent more freeley to your years. Put a computer speaker in a card board box facicng the side. Close the box on one side. Now open each side. the more it is allowed to get to your ear with the less restrictions the louder it will be. The trunk is no more a chamber then a cardboard box is.

This is not always true. Certain cars do have tremendous gain called Transfer Function. The natural acoustics of a given space will show a gain at a given frequency. Certain Honda Civics back in the 90's had gains of +12 db at about 40 db.

I am not saying that the trunk was designed for the sub, I am saying that the company designed the sub to fire down to take advantage of this naturally occuring phenomenon. Otherwise, why wouldn't they fire it up? Because it is louder this way.

Also "vent freely to your ears," what about wave guides or transmission line enclosures or compression drivers? these are all louder than comparitive enclosures aimed directly at the driver.

Britt

Also, I should have said "like a 4th order" because you are correct that the trunk is not a calculated air space.

Britt

A corner loaded box example taking advantage of transefer fuction are many of the JL stealth boxes.

The MSP box was in no way designed to hit a tranfer function of the car. It was mounted up there to keep the amp and sub out of the way. Also it is to far form the floor to make a difference. It is not a boundry load. Use a DB meter for th esu then put the box on the floor. It will be just as loud.
