After finally finding a dealership that had the 06's in stock (just came in this monday), my wife and I are now new proud owners of a 2006 2.3S sedan. This thing is loaded to the hilt. 5speed, leather, sunroof, bose, climate control, you name it. I've never driven the previous year models but I can tell you we test drove every car in its class and this one blew everything out of the water. The only thing I'm worried about is the gas mileage. Were getting well below what the little window sticker said. It's got a little computer that tells you AVG MPG, and CURRENT MPG and the AVG is barely over 20 (city/hwy mixed). Is this normal? Also, is there some sort of break-in procedure I should follow or should I just drive it normally?

climate control huh? nice, where are you? i wasnt aware the 06 came with climate control.... does it have heated seats too?

yeah i was wondering if it was a regional package.
cool, i would like to have a winter package here in the northeast.

heated seats are avaiable on the leather package

as for your gas mileage.
you should be getting more. whats ur Odo at? and have u gotten an oil change? have u been redlining it?

but I think it should be higher, fuel injectors have been a known problem on older model 3s, so u might want to check it out

I'm in Utah (Salt Lake City area). I payed the MSRP which was about $21500 (before taxes). There is about 150 on the odo so maybe it's still just breaking in? My wife is kind of a lead-foot but I told her to hold off a bit because it's new. And yes the seats are heated! The dealer told me it has every option possible on the S series minus a spoiler (we opted for none).

what about navigation? isn't that still an option? and as far as gas mileage goes, this car loves to be up over 5k rpm, where the gas mileage sucks, so if you shift it at 3k or so you should get closer to the spec'd city/highway.... as far as break in (read the manual) it stated at about 600 miles to not drive it over 5k rpm, and to never drive it at the same rpm for a long time...(ie cruise control is a no no till over 600)

Sounds Good to me, kinda like an SP23. Is black the only option for interior color? I liked the saddle brown on the SP and was hoping they would continue that. I was going to buy a 3 in the next few weeks, but then I found out that my wife is pregnant, so I got to hold on a little longer.

a little longer = 9 months?
if so then its not gonna happen for a while cause its more expensive once they are born.

I know, Next September (26th B-Day) I get a $8k inheritance and then it will be a little more affordable. I guess that may be good because then the MS3 should be out and then I will be glad that I waited. Even with insurance the pregnancy is going to cost about $5k. Luckily I'm living with my inlaws right now and we are saving a ton of money. My wife knows how dissapointed I am, so maybe she will suprise me for my birthday. We'll see...I guess.

I'll take some. It's pretty cool. It looks like a color that would be on a much more expensive/luxurious car...

The metallic white is beautiful. I got to see it on an 06 Miata at ZoomZoomLive loved it.

As for your gas mileage, it will get better with every tank for your first 1,000 miles at least. With my Protege my mileage slowly got better and better for about the first 4,000 miles before it stabilized.

Sorry I haven't taken any pics yet...computer issues. I was getting the MPG from the computer display in the car (AVG MPG)..it registered about 21-22ish. But when I filled up with gas I calculated the actual mileage vs the amount of fuel I put in and I came up with 25-26mpg. I'm assuming the latter is more acurrate? Should I just assume the cars AVG MPG computer calculation is wrong?

Cool...got 27MPG yesterday at fillup. Mostly city driving with my wife driving (and she is a leadFOOT). Car already has about 700 miles on it though, and we just bought it last week :/
