I'm pretty proud of my new coolant temperature sensor / gauge setup

So i got a piece of carbon fibre board from my last job, and I was all like: "I know what I''m gonna do." I have been looking at these auber gauges for a while, and I got one on ebay for a good deal. now I can worry about my coolant temps all the time! to the 1/10th of a degree!

It's pretty but, I see a big problem with the location of the coolant sensor.

You will never get a real reading of the engine temperature there...

Look at where the stock sensor is and put the second sensor THERE

Then put the Blue thing in the bottom of the tool box and leave it.

You are only reading the coolant going into the Radiator which is not a useful piece of information...

Coolant does not always go into the radiator, it forms a double loop like this.

See the word.. "Bypass Hose"

That is because the coolant can "Bypass The Radiator" and miss the new sensor completely.

See how all of these Mofos are in the coolant manifold, before the Rad Hose.

I do know that you aren't going to do anything about it, just felt that you should know.

hmm. well, that gives me something to think about. obviously more difficult to install.

Any pics of an aftermarket coolant temp sensor installed like that on a protege engine?

I'll be doing one similar to it in the near future when the motor goes back in and I start the wire tuck.

I've got my sensor installed in the water neck just beside the stock sensor. the aluminum is thick and can easily be drilled and tapped. Check my build thread for pics.
