Yeah, it is, but....I haven't had a front plate on my car since I bought it back in September of 2001. To bad the damn dealers drilled holes in the front bumper before I had bought it. I haven't been pulled over of even bothered by any police about it.

one of my friends never put on her front plate on her gs300 and
got a ticket at 2 o'clock AM when she parked her car in a parking spot along the road in downtown LA.
She appealled the ticket and the police said that the ticket is void because they can't just issue a ticket just becasue you don't have the front plate. It should be "combine" with other illegal "actions" such as speeding, or some thing like that..
I do believe our cars look much better without the front plates. but I don't want to have any trouble..
I got a ticket for not having my fron tplate opn my car. CHP(California Highway Patrol) pulled me over and said "I see you have no front license plate!" WTF!!!1 Got a fix it ticket. Now its in the window
I've gone without one for years, I got one ticket from a parking cop. I told 'em it broke, they dropped the fine but told me if I got another I'd have to pay it.
You just have to decide whether it's worth it, it might give them an excuse to check your car for emissions legality. So, if you have done any mods that don't have an EO# you may want to think twice.
