Protege
I think my Fiancee's protege needs some kick in the pants. Since she doesn't take care of it like it should, I figured I would. So I got up at 6am on my birthday and got to work. I replaced the leaking valve cover gasket, replaced the spark plug wires, and replaced the old NGK G power plugs with NGK Iridium lx, (thinking I should have gone with the NGK ZFR7F-11), and it's running mobil 1 synthetic, high mileage 5w-30. Then I started to realize it's potential as I read through these forums. So it's nice to meet you.

My fiancee's driven it to work. It's nothing special I promise. It has some sort of Enkei rims, but nothing aggressive. I really wanted to get the engine bay spotless. What should I use? The valve cover gasket seaped a good deal of oil. I will have pictures up tonight.

You could use some engine degreaser (make sure you cover up the electronics and alternator, battery though) or do it spot by spot with a rag and some all purpose cleaner.

Yeah, I've gone through two cans already. It's almost like I need to take everything out, clean it and start from there. I wish I had a cherry picker. I don't think my Fiancee wants her engine out of her car though. Maybe. My plans should be modest for now, maybe... Thanks everyone for the welcome.

theres a member on here who was making some sort of wire kit not sure if it was wire tucking or just minimizing them but i think it was "boostedprotegelx" if im not mistaken.

I wish I could get some pictures right now. I almost feel bad about posting, without pictures and it being my girls car.

I just never paid attention to it. It's a little protege...you know. Or so I thought. Then I started doing some research. This could be a sick car.

trust me theres a few people on this forum who dont actually own a mazda its their moms, cousins, sisters, brothers, uncles mazda but they drive it.

I dont think anyone will mind if you dont have your name on the title. As long as you follow the rules and are not an ass like some people then youll be fine. the forum isnt only for owners its a place to learn and meet new people.

and no matter what it looks like post some pics anyways we all like pics here, and theres nothing to be ashamed of if its stock theres plenty of stock mazdas on here.

hell it wasent till a couple years ago that i started to mod my protege it aint much to look at either but its a work in progress (2-3yrs) but its coming together.

85% of my parts i have i bought on this forum so if she allows any modding scope out the FS threads you can get some really good deals on stuff.

Alright, so I will have pictures up in a couple minutes. It's too hot to be cleaning yet. I just went down to look at it and clean some, and I think I lost about 2 quarts of body fluid sweating. The rubber boot that connects to the throttle body, on the intake is torn. 0o

You may want to fix that intake quickly. Im sure its hurting your MPGs at the least.

YEAH. Working on it. It seams like every time I check this car, it's something new going bad. At least it's little things. While I have the intake off, I took out the maf's screen and am working on cutting the suggested holes in the plastic grill support.
