alright i am tryin to get started on my install and figure some of the stuff i can do is mount the amps. i want them under the front seats. one on each side i figure... would that be okay to run the sub wires from the front to the rear? i am using a loc from the stereo and then into a jl 250/1 from there to my jl 4300 for the doors. how do i mount them under the seats? just to some plywood wrapped in fabric? how do i make it so they don't move? i am quite new to this and i did do a search but i got lazy after looking at the 10 page out of 20 (500 results) and figure this will be way easier even with the possible flammage.... anywho any help will be appreciated...

last time i talked to firsty, he told me to get some MDF, Cut it to size and screw it directly into the floor of the crar, making sure you put some caulk on the bolts from under the car. The screw the amp into the plywood. I guess that is the best way to go.

nice... i was hoping something like that would work... i want to avoid putting the amps behind my rear seat and also to avoid putting holes in my flooring. i have velcro here at work, i will just help my self to some and should be good to go... thanks again...

I prefer screws but velcro can be used. With the screws just coat the underside of them (under the car) With undercoating (avaialble at auto supply stores) That will keep everything from rusting.
Either way, lift the carpet up and secure a board atleast 1/2" thick to the floor with screws or velcro. For velcro, clean the area first and wipe it down with a fast evaporating cleaner like brake cleaner or acetone. ONce the board is mounted, put the carpet back down. Now all you have to do is secure the amp to the board. (cool)
The amp bust be mounted to the car directly, no sticking it to carpet only as it will still flop around and possibly damage itself.
The cool thing about using a board under the carpet is that amps are easily swappable incase you upgrade later.

(one amp and one cross over under each front seat?) or do i have to have them in/on the doors b/c of interference or some such s***....?

Yep, you'll need to run 2 wires into each door. 1 for the tweeters one for the mids.
Also, i doubt the crossovers will fit under the seat with the amp. Just put them in the doors, over the rain gaurds. I usualy glue them to the back of the door panels.
so i went ahead and ripped my doors apart and started to look into how to mount the speakers, then i realized the rain gaurd... do'h... figure i can just fabricate something at work, and dind't feel like spending such a kick ass day inside at work so i went ahead and started the sound deadening... i used the tsunami brand (butyl not asphalt) the guy told me just use your hands no tooling requried... in my infinite wisdom i believed him and my fingers are cut to s***... i am not sure what cut them but my hands are a mangled mess, there was blood everywhere i wasn't even able to work on the set up after i did the front two doors.... looks like i got into a fight with cat or something... and no it wasn't the stamped steel b/c i laid the deadening over it?? anyways the saga continues.... what do you recomend for splitting the power from source to two amps?

You need a distrobution block for your amp. Atleast a power one (with fuses), and possibly a ground one (looks cleaner and is easier). If you have 1/0awg power wire, I can hook you up. I'm selling mine from my last install.

I bought them from Sounddomain.com, check them out. They have some that are combination power/ground blocks. Pretty cool. Made by streetwires I believe.

Here is how I mount mine. I didn't want to give up two seatbacks because I often put bulky stuff in the trunk, snowboards, etc. So I mounted two of the amps on the right seat back and a separate small one under driver's seat. Works out great.
I wanted to go with Alpine V12 series but they were a little too big...
Even now the distro block has to sit right next to the amp, don't really like it but what ya gonna do.
