Horrible rear tire wear - my fault???

So, I feel like an idiot even posting this, but wanted to get other opinions before I move on here. My 06 had essentially bald tires all the way around when I bought it. I replaced with General Exclaim UHP 245/45/ZR18's - which I have had excellent experiences with before. It's been 15-16k miles now, and my rear tires are GONE! My fronts look great (no-I havent' rotated).

So my initial thought is that when we do grocery runs, I generally load up on feed (I have lots of animals). Sometimes 400 or more lbs of feed sacks in the trunk. Couple that with high speed limits around here (most roads 65 or higher), I can see accelerated wear. But I also noticed that the weight capacity is 1356 lbs/tire, versus my other passenger car tires are 1600+.

My quandry is this: if this is my fault, and I simply was overloading the car/tires, then I'll gladly purchase another pair and chalk it up to idiocy. BUT, if it is a tire/car problem, then I need to find an alternative so I'm not spending $350 in tires every year!

Thoughts? Comments? Ridicule?

get an alignment. also, make sure you rotate every 5-10. That'll help keep the wear more even and give you more life outta all four tires.

i don't think loading should make *that* big of a difference.

Went ahead and pulled the trigger on 2 new ones. Had the installer check out the old ones. He said they look very evenly worn, just worn. No feathering, even wear across the tire. I'll just be watching how much I load her down with in the future.... I have a truck to do the heavy pulling :D

since you have an awd car you need to be care and make sure all 4 tires have the same wear on them. If there will be a lot of difference between the tires your diff/transfer case will be doing a lot of work and could potentially give you problems later on.
