so i have HID's installed on my 5. i have a harness and have a capacitor in the harness so they are on all the time when the ignition is on and the parking brake is off (because it came with drl's being canadian)

problem is, they don't work anymore. dont really know why. but if anyone has any insight or has had this happen feel free to post up. occasionally one ballast won't fire on startup, then i just flick them off and back on and it will fire, but then all of the sudden during a run to the hardware store, they worked fine, then when i went to leave they wouldn't come on, and havent come on since. in the meantime before i have a chance to swap back to stock headlights, i am going to refrain from driving after dark.

triple check all of your electrical connections. make sure each ballast is getting a good solid power and ground. if the ballasts are the cheap type, it is entirely possible that they have outlived their useful life.

turns out the inline fuse in the harness shorted out. i guess the connections running into it got full of s*** and shorted, don't really know but thats what it was. tore it all out and sold the ballasts and bulbs to my brother who doesn't need the harness for his purpose. back to bad halogens now.
