HID Kit, am I missing something?

Ok so Im pretty experienced with HID kits but I'm having a problem with getting them to work on this car.

The Focus and Protege use the same headlight bulbs, so what I did was just pull the kit out of my Focus (sold) and installed it in the Protege. So I hooked everything up and fired them up, and they worked first try! So great right? No, I went to test the high beams and the bulbs turned off, I turned off the high beams and just tried lo beams and they wouldn't come on.

So I thought maybe I blew the bulbs? Ordered new bulbs and installed them, still nothing. So I replaced the fuse on the wiring harness, still nothing, checked the wiring, nothing, swapped one of my ballasts to my friends car to see if there was something wrong with the ballasts, but nope. So I'm stumped, I don't know what could be wrong, I mean they fired up first try but now nothing seems to work. Does the protege require any extra things to run an HID kit?

Thanks.

are you 100% sure you have the wiring correct? are you running a relay harness? the protege uses a ground switching set-up for the headlights, which can cause issues if the wiring isnt installed correctly.

I figured it out. I added the relay harness, and plugged into the passenger side stock bulb harness.

They weren't liking the driver side for some reason.

I just ordered DDM Tuning HID's.. should I run down to their shop and get some relay harnesses for my 00' protege?

in my opinion, you dont NEED a relay harness on the protege. i've been running my HIDs for my main beams and fogs for 5 years now without one, and i have no issues.

Yeah you probably don't need it. I picked one up a while ago and ended up not using it.

Thought I would throw it on this time.
